🧵 GM everyone, I want to talk honestly and transparently about $SEA, @opensea, @dfinzer and @openseafdn Foundation.
Below you’ll find the full interview of @HollanderAdam with @ChrisJourdan, but I want to give you a summary and most importantly my personal take on what’s happening 👇
First of all:
this is my personal opinion, based on watching the entire interview from start to finish.
6 months ago, the Foundation and the dev team estimated a Q1 token launch.
👉 Why?
Because at that time, the app was expected to already be live on the market.
I’m a beta tester of the app.
And I’ll tell you this straight:
👉 the app is really solid
👉 yes, it still needs some improvements
👉 but the team is extremely fast at taking feedback and improving it daily
Let’s get to the main point: the TGE
Based on the original plan, the app should already be live by now.
But OpenSea made a clear decision:
👉 NOT to launch an empty token
👉 NOT to do a pump & dump with no real utility
What they’re building is much bigger than just a token.
👉 They’re creating a real all-in-one hub
A place where you can:
• trade NFTs
• use perps
• swap tokens
• move across chains easily
• buy crypto with a card
👉 all in just a few clicks
And this is underrated.
Because let’s be honest:
👉 70% of Web3 users don’t really know how to move across chains
I’ve helped many people over my 5 years on OpenSea.
For me it’s simple.
For others it’s a huge wall made of:
• fear of making mistakes
• anxiety of losing money
OpenSea is trying to break that wall.
👉 Make everything simple and natural.
Like what iPhone did for user experience.
📅 Let’s talk about the March 30th event.
Adam said it was supposed to happen, but got cancelled just a few days before.
👉 My take: they weren’t ready.
But here’s what that actually means.
👉 They weren’t ready because the app is NOT fully live on the market yet as it should be.
And this is key.
Because to launch $SEA properly you need:
• a product people can already use
• real users using it
• real utility behind the token
Without that…
👉 $SEA would risk being just another initial pump with no foundation
Instead, they want the opposite:
👉 a token with real utility
👉 a token built on top of an already active ecosystem
👉 And this is the key point.
From how Adam describes it…
the claim experience and everything around it
was designed to be something big, polished and different.
And here’s something personal.
After the announcement, I asked him directly on Discord:
👉 to calm the community, wouldn’t it make sense to at least show allocations?
His answer was:
👉 they couldn’t, because it’s part of the experience the Foundation built
And from the way he talks about it…
👉 it really feels like it’s going to be something special for users.
So the main question:
why no TGE?
My take:
👉 80% → app not ready yet
👉 20% → market conditions
The real mistake in my opinion:
👉 announcing Q1 too early
It created a countdown…
on a timeline that was too far out.
And a lot can happen in months.
What happens now?
👉 they will announce the date ONLY when they’re truly ready
And most importantly:
👉 with a short notice (within ~1 month max)
not months in advance like before
Let’s zoom out.
If you want to bring attention back to NFTs…
👉 you need to bring people where NFTs actually are.
This hub will do exactly that.
People will come for:
• ease of use
• trading
• perps
And then:
👉 they’ll discover NFTs
And not only that.
Adam also said:
👉 revenue from other tools will be used to support the NFT ecosystem
👉 and give visibility to artists
(which OpenSea has always done)
Now speaking as someone deep in this space.
I’ve been in NFTs for 5 years.
👉 I’m an OG
👉 I hold valuable assets
And yes:
👉 I was pissed
👉 I wanted a 6-figure airdrop too
But I can’t call this a scam…
👉 when a team is building something at this level for NFTs
If you’re out there screaming “scam” or “farming”:
👉 take 5 minutes
👉 watch the interview
👉 understand what they’re building
Because the truth is:
👉 we need something like this
For NFTs.
For this space.
Yes, they made mistakes.
👉 they’re human
But:
👉 this is a delay, not a cancellation
And one last thing.
I know how hard it must have been to make that announcement.
As a community, we can be angry — that’s fair.
But we can’t ignore everything.
In Web3 we’ve been used to:
• broken promises
• endless delays
👉 so trust is very low today
But from what I’m seeing…
👉 there is something real behind this and it’s something big
They made a mistake with timing, and they admitted it.
Now:
👉 let’s support them
Because a stressed team performs worse.
A supported team performs at 100%.
There’s a reason fans and ultras exist in stadiums.
👉 energy matters
LET’S GO OPENSEA 🔵🌊
