We got early beta access to the new @OpenSea app. After spending some time with it, here are our intern's two biggest takeaways 🧵 1. Crypto setup reduced to a few taps Once you download the app, you're only a few taps away from making your first trade. You can connect your existing wallets or create both a Solana and EVM wallet with a single tap. If you're new to crypto, this is about as easy as it gets. You can then fund your account using a variety of payment methods, including Apple Pay. - No downloading multiple wallets. - No navigating complicated exchanges. - No bridging between chains. OpenSea handles most of the setup behind the scenes. 2. This feels more like a crypto discovery app than an NFT marketplace Yes, NFTs are still there. But the experience feels much broader. Tokens, collections, trending assets... it feels built around discovering crypto, not just collecting JPEGs. It isn't trying to compete with pro trading terminals. It's trying to become the easiest place for the next million people to buy their first crypto asset. Who is this app for? If you're a pro trader glued to charts all day, probably not. But if you're introducing someone to crypto for the first time, this might be one of the easiest onboarding experiences I've used. My biggest takeaway wasn't any single feature. It was how invisible the infrastructure felt. Wallet creation, funding, and multi-chain support all happen with surprisingly little friction. That's the direction consumer crypto has needed for years. If OpenSea executes well from here, this app has the potential to become many people's first crypto app, not just their first NFT app. Visit @opensea to find out how to get early access.

robinhood chain trading is blowing up on opensea, and seeing memes + nfts all in one social feed on the mobile beta is particularly fun we're hyperfocused as a team on building the best cross-chain trading experience for crypto. couple updates coming to robinhood chain integration shortly: - ironing out success rate and flakiness - gas abstraction for selling - better stablecoin defaults - smarter feed with more customization reply if you want an invite to give it a try!

Crazy to think OpenSea was one of the first platforms to integrate Robinhood Chain. Before Fomo, Axiom, GMGN or Photon. Basically anyone except Uniswap and 1inch. Pretty soon traders will realize all you need is OS mobile & call it a day. It’s becoming the one-stop shop for Web3

huge respect to @opensea for what they just shipped. the new agent API + instant keys are a game changer. no forms, no waiting, no gatekeeping you curl one endpoint and you're building. this is how infrastructure should be opened up. #instant-api-key-for-agents" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">docs.opensea.io/reference/api-… we used it today. our agents (FREAKS V1) can now buy NFTs from OpenSea directly through their smart wallets. the NFT becomes the buyer. paste a link → your FREAK's TBA fulfills the listing via Seaport → the NFT lands in the agent's wallet. thank you @opensea for making this possible. and @HollanderAdam for pushing the team this direction. real builders notice.

I didn't drink at my birthday party so I could start crushing PR's all day today. I have 99 PR's to work through from the community, but a hangover aint one First big feature of the day: a chief security officer to audit your attack surface (informational only, please hire a pentester for real production code and mission critical situations!)

what a delightful, well-timed photoshoot in all seriousness: - i’ve lost count of how many times i’ve heard “opensea is done.” we’re still here. - if you start a business you can and should make money from it. but if you actually know our team, you know that our focus has always, from the start, been building products that people love. that will continue to be the case - my wife got into bitcoin in 2011 (years before nfts were a thing), has always paid for everything herself and started multiple non-profits while advising me. she’s never used the term “product mommy”, but she’s the most brilliant person i know and has built me into the person i am today. marry someone who builds with you, learns alongside you, and who is deeply dedicated to your growth no matter the ups and downs - our industry is still small and misunderstood. for crypto to scale it's eventually going to feel invisible and permeate all of culture. that's a big part of opensea's vision. we saw an opportunity (not without risk) to share it with VF but what that article became wildly misrepresented our industry and our own story. that's a bummer, but we'll have more shots at this - it's not the critic who counts. to create anything of significance in the world takes time, pain, mistakes, courage, the willingness to be both deeply misunderstood and disliked, and glass-chewing. luckily the glass-chewing make you stronger. onwards

an update on $SEA. the team has been building at full speed, and the foundation had planned to kick off the first steps as part of our march 30th event. but @openseafdn is pushing back the timeline. a delay is a delay. i’m not going to dress it up, and i know how it lands. the reality is that market conditions are challenging across crypto right now, and $SEA only launches once. @openseafdn could force the original date, or we could ensure every piece is in place and make this moment what this community deserves. we gave a tremendous amount of thought to how to do right here. I’m thankful to @HollanderAdam for bringing the community’s voice into every conversation. we’ll be doing the following: no more waves: the current rewards wave will be our last. optional fee refund: recognizing that we originally committed to a Q1 date, we’re offering refunds of the platform fees we retained while participating in the rewards waves (3 - 6) that followed our timing announcement. if you like, you can receive a refund of those fees, which when combined with treasure chest prizes, essentially means all of your trading during that period was on us. if you opt for a refund, the Treasures you were awarded during these waves will be removed from your account. details on this process will follow. honoring existing Treasures: for Treasures you continue to hold, our prior commitment stands: they will be meaningfully considered by the Foundation at TGE. this is independent from allocations for historical activity. 0% fees for 60 days: starting on march 31st, opensea will reduce our own token trading fees to 0%. we want to make it a no-brainer for everyone to experience our new platform: cross-chain token trading, mobile app, perps and more. after this 60 day period, we will put a new system in place that makes fees significantly more competitive for anyone trading consistently on opensea. product updates: while we’re postponing our march 30th event, we’ll host a separate one in the coming months focused on product updates. it’s been incredible to see the early responses to our mobile app, and we can’t wait to get it into more people’s hands. so if not now, wen? when we announced last year, it was too early. that created unnecessary uncertainty and reactivity. so when the Foundation sets a new timeline, it will be deliberate and specific. here’s why i’m confident that’s the right move: i’ve been building opensea for almost a decade. when this started, we were two people and the only thing you could trade on OS was cryptokitties. i’ve watched this space go from a niche curiosity to billions in volume to where we are today. the thing that’s carried us through every cycle was a willingness to make hard calls when it mattered. when our market crashed, we rebuilt from zero: an entirely new stack, a new product, and a new team culture. that hurt in the short term. but today OS2 is undeniably the strongest marketplace offering, and it’s the foundation everything sits on. we have huge ambitions as a company, and we’re here for the long game. making all of non-custodial crypto delightful on mobile is just the beginning. that means we have to set a very high bar for everything we do, and it’s why i’m so protective of delivering a launch that’s worthy of this community and everything we’re putting into this.

we just shipped @opensea/cli what makes this particularly powerful is that opensea token trading is built as an aggregator on top of aggregators. we route across every major DEX, across 25+ chains, with cross-chain liquidity. add seaport liquidity and your agent gets one of the most comprehensive onchain data layers that exists just like our user-facing products, this means: everything in one place, one tool, every chain, every swap, every NFT
OpenSea@opensea

Introducing @opensea/cli — the OpenSea skill for your AI agents. Query NFTs, listings, swaps & more from your terminal. Or install it as a skill to power up your agents with deep onchain data from OpenSea. npm install -g @opensea/cli Your agents will thank you 🫡

I use Opensea everyday since early 2020 and recently had the pleasure to be invited by Zack to see what the new @opensea Mobile app can do - and it is a game changer. It works like breeze, one click, second click, and you own new NFT or coin. Everything integrated in one clever app in your mobile that is super easy to use. Kudos @opensea, well done! 👍🥳
