@Weather_West I would love to learn your take on the effects of stratospheric moisture plume induced by the Tongan volcano last year. I believe in climate change, but the current (insane global) spike seems like it might have roots up there...

@mcahalane @Esqueer_ I want to see more conversations about the scenario where the Democrats' 217 members and one ambitious anti-Trump Republican keep Kevin McCarthy out of the speakership

Not only will Democrats very likely keep the Senate (maybe even 51 seats!), but there’s still a real chance they’ll hold the House.

Really fascinating watching the House races evolve. I’m not seeing Dems with any fewer than 215 seats, a real chance at 216 seats, and an outside shot at 217. Democrat dominance of the ‘tossups’ a big story of the 2022 cycle..

If the Senate holds on to Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia seats that will give us 51-49 advantage in Senate. But looks like House may gain majority. Hope it's just 218-217 to make life difficult for Mccarthy.

Lunch break, did a quick tally of House seats. If vote counting stopped now, I think it'd be 218 Republican, 217 Democrat. Of course there are many drop-off & mail-in votes still to count, especially out West, so this is a super rough estimate but amazing that it's so close.

If I'm Joe Biden and somehow the D's get 52 Senate seats and the projections are right that R's take house with 218-217 I'm offering the weakest Republican in Congress a job in the admin, abolish the filibuster and make D.C.a state with congressional representation.

@NateSilver538 Fishing for funds from people. Liberals desperate for Susan Collins to be named Secretary of State will send his campaign $25.

This is a bold claim, but if there's no mail-in vote counted in Alaska, then we don't know very much about it yet.

@econstatsnerd @NateSilver538 It's not just that Trump won't be on the ballot, Trump might be half-assed about campaigning because the runoff won't be about him. I'm betting DEMs will stay stoked. But there are more GOP than DEM in GA & those that pay attention to politics won't want to lose the Senate.

I could see some Warnock-Perdue voters in the (now fairly likely) Double Georgia Runoff scenario.

@NateSilver538 I think there will be a big letdown in Republican turnout with no Trump on the ballot. I could see Democrats picking up both seats in a runoff as many demoralized Republicans, unguided by dog whistles, stay home to wash their robes #garunoff

@marzannyc @NateSilver538 I think there will be a big letdown in Republican support with no Trump on the ballot. I could see Democrats picking up both seats in a runoff as demoralized Republicans stay home. Lack of Trump-blown dog whistles will see many of Tuesday's voters home washing their robes

@NateSilver538 BTW on Senate in GA: Ossoff isn't goin' anywhere. Perdue gets below 50 and it goes to runoff. We have until Jan to pump money into GA to help Ossoff and Warnock in the runoffs. We should all go and camp out in GA for 2 months and eat a lot of Peaches. Court Balancing is happening

The wild card would be if some D-Desk went rogue and called PA before Biden took a lead there.
