Um, that's not what happened. The 49ers wanted to build their new stadium on the same Candlestick site--by the Bay. Mayor Gavin Newsom wanted them at Hunters Point, a toxic waste site. He never negotiated & then stopped returning the 49ers' calls. Santa Clara swooped in.

If Lacob was owner the Raiders, they wouldn’t be in Vegas as playing the role as the Washington Generals to the NFL’s Harlem Globetrotters, they would be in the Oakland/Bay Area vying for a playoff spot.
