The amazing thing about the SNL sketch last night was not that Ashley Padilla wore a scarf nearly identical to mine.  It’s that I trust Amy Poehler as AG more than Pam Bondi.

@dijoni @etanthomas36 What bad things? Really curious about this. I suppose you turn a blind eye to all the videos of blacks attacking whites in schools and in public. No outrage there tho huh ... 🖕🏼

Another big theme that I keep seeing, especially in student writing: slow down, unpack. Text proceeds at a break-neck pace with terms undefined, points made too quickly and unclearly. It's ineffective writing. More effective is taking the time to explain clearly what you're saying.

Making the time to read, highlight, annotate, take notes by hand, is necessary for me to sustain my ability to think creatively and develop models, frameworks, strategies and heuristics.

I am now officially Dr. Matt Coss! Words can't really capture my gratitude to everyone, including my #langchat friends, who made this journey possible and so worthwhile. (Dissertation acknowledgements here: bit.ly/3ZKnWfz). On to the next adventure!

I gave my Mixed Methods students some tips recently which included on the importance of keeping the number of cases they are comparing in their theses manageable. I also introduced them to the conceptof "shadow cases", which strangely enough is not discussed enough

@ashleytrubin trying to search the literature to get a general background on the topic, using the topic as a keyword and AND plus “literature review” but not having much luck. Any suggestions?

@edwardstanko One method is to just search for articles on your topic in the major journals of your field. Look at where your favorite articles were published and find similar articles (or which articles they cite). Sometimes you need to branch out a bit and define your topic a bit broader.
