Why do product designers think "Hide all UI chrome on scroll and then scroll back up a little to reveal the navigation UI" is good? This trend just keeps going, am I the only one who dislikes it? There are so many vertical pixels, you can leave the tabs on screen I promise

@tim_bertolet @NeilShenvi I thought that but then the probability is also on some background or context. Therefore the probability of a miracle on atheism is lower than on theism.

@NeilShenvi I get your point but I'll raise you. I wouldn't just say it's merely improbable but that it's impossible. It's more like getting 6 Aces in your poker hand. Given the deck, it's impossible unless the dealer (God) changes the stacks the deck. God can intervene in the normal laws.

A simple counterexample: A royal flush is the most improbable hand in poker. It is not true that a historian must conclude that a particular player in a particular tournament didn't hit a royal flush.

An excerpt from the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy describing one of Bart Ehrman's arguments concerning miracles as crude & trading on a confusion between the probability of an event given the evidence & its probability independent of the evidence. Sounds right.

@NeilShenvi Also, a miracle is “by definition…”. Really? I don’t know why we are arbitrarily assigning a low probability to a miracle.

@ee0pdt @PrestonSprinkle The point is, if the act is unnatural so is the desire. To be attracted to the opposite sex is natural because that’s how God created us. To be attracted to the same sex is unnatural because that is contrary to God’s creation.

@ee0pdt @PrestonSprinkle Your point is a categorical error. When Scripture calls something ‘unnatural,’ It’s talking about what is contrary to God’s design in creation—God’s moral order. Scripture teaches that same-sex desire violates that because it departs from the created pattern of male and female.

@CharlesHCano @PrestonSprinkle Erm, some would disagree about that. They’d say that burning fossil fuels is large quantities in air travel is a moral issue. But that wasn’t my point, my pushback is that “natural” isn’t a terribly helpful criteria for determining morality.

@ee0pdt @PrestonSprinkle There is no moral dimension to boarding an airplane. It doesn’t violate God’s design for righteousness, holiness, or human relationships.

Oh Seriously! I only use Claude apps like Desktop and Claude Code and now I'm banned with no reason given! @bcherny - an entire team in my workplace got banned last week and it took two days to reinstate. Now me. Seriously @AnthropicAI sort this out!

@ee0pdt @bcherny @AnthropicAI Hello the same thing happened to me , no reason and I am using it for personal workflow with automated tasks created and sugested by claude itself no external repos, no openclaw, no other thingds and I am clueless. Did you manage to get in contact with them ?

Some days I'm tempted to skip "plan mode", but most days I realize I've saved myself at least 1/2 an hour of untangling bad code because the plan wasn't quite right

I made a React Native Drag and Drop library that finally works! [v2.0 release] 10 months ago v1 became the top post of the month on r/reactnative. Since then: hundreds of stars, tons of community feedback, and all of it shaped this release. Demos below (1/5)

@DavidKPiano @ryanbrewer As a human working with a 10+ year-old project I know that AI could have produced this mess faster, but it can also help me fix it faster.

@DavidKPiano @ryanbrewer Time to realise you should have used state machines from the get go: Reduced. Time to refactor to introduce state machines: Reduced. It's a win-win, as long as you are paying attention to the problem.

@DavidKPiano @ryanbrewer Hmm, not sure it's a useful take though. LLMs do not produce unmaintainable software - at least not to any greater degree than a team of humans left unchecked. You need engineers checking both human and AI coders and designing/redesigning architecture.

@reczko_konrad @rileyb3d I used to use negative lights to add occlusion when I was rendering frames on low-spec hardware. Not tried it in Godot tho

Very cool solution. I usually treat full GI as the fallback approach, though I’d start to worry once the rooms get more populated with furniture or other meshes. Placing those lights could get tricky if you want believable bounced shadows, and disabling shadows on secondary lights might lead to overlit occluded areas. Do you have any ideas for handling that? Super curious.

I found an approach to interior lighting I like in #godot. I don't love real time GI or light baking so I'm going with multiple lights to fake light bounce. It gives me the most control and performance. For switches I identify the switch object in Blender and organize all lights associated with that switch under a parent node in Godot. My script looks for this hierarchy. #b3d

Experiments with hardware raytraced GI in #Godot. Per pixel for short range with probe fallback. The ground foliage isn't present in the BVH and the color comes purely from the ground. It also uses one bounce (everything else uses two).

@holland_tom Methinks it should say "Muslim students" rather than "students" here. I taught Muslim students and I remember making Christmas cards with some choosing not to draw eyes on their reindeer as that was the criteria for what you "shouldn't draw".

Can it REALLY now be an official government diktat that children in primary school, say, are forbidden to draw Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden or the baby Jesus in the manger?
