That said, there are several problems with the review, which I’ll try to respond to in due time.

Dr. John Whittaker offers a very thoughtful and critical review of my book “From Genesis to Junia.” This is how critical reviews should be written! It’s lengthy, but definitely worth your time 👇🏼 renew.org/review-from-ge…

@chadafrancis Thanks Chad! See page 103, esp n. 36. Paul does use the word to describe manual labor on 3 occasions (1 Cor 4:12; Eph 4:28; 2 Tim 2:6). But when he applies it to ministry work, it always applies to the work of leaders.

Hey @PrestonSprinkle, I'm enjoying the book so far (on ch 5 now). I found your point about κοπιάω so interesting, I dug into it more, & when I did, Eph 4:28 caught my 👁️. I'm curious to hear how you reconcile this w/ your pretty strong statements about Paul's usage of the word.

Every @PrestonSprinkle book I’ve read has changed my mind abt something. I’m really intrigued to see how this one goes. Been back and forth on this (grew up egalitarian ➡️ became hardcore complementarian when I got into ministry ➡️ prob more of a “soft-c” now). Here. We. Go.

Tom Schreiner has weighed in on Preston Sprinkle’s new book on women in leadership. I explain why, on this one, I’m with Preston – and why 1 Tim 2 cannot override the rest of the Bible’s witness to women leaders. Read here: michaelfbird.substack.com/p/preston-spri…

Can women be church leaders? That's right gang-- we're GOING THERE! NEW episode from @NathanJClarkson and myself with theologian and NYT bestselling author of "From Genesis to Junia", @PrestonSprinkle. We talk a lot about our personal journeys on the topic and why acknowledging our biases and giving charity to people who disagree is so important--especially when we wade into controversial subjects like this. Proof. Scot also quoted me in his Philemon commentary too. Very humbling that my first ever peer-reviewed piece made it this far. Thanks @PrestonSprinkle For my review of Preston’s excellent book see here: youtu.be/PAWNO6j_Q3g?si…

@MikeKaylani @RawTheology @DrTomSchreiner Thanks Mike! As a Protestant, I guess I'm not as interested in tradition as I am in interpreting the Bible according to the meaning of the Hebrew and Greek words in their original context. I mean no disrespect for my Roman Catholic friends who uphold traditional exegesis.

@RawTheology @DrTomSchreiner I really appreciate Preston Sprinkle's heart. I am grateful for his approach and care for those affected by the issues he discusses. However, the overlap between where he diverges from traditional exegesis seems conveniently similar to culture's. That is just an observation.
