@HomegrownTHC @DigitalGermania @LASHYBILLS I agree with you but the states that ban “assault rifles” air quotes cuz that’s not real do it by restricting rifles from having a combination of a telescoping stock, a threaded barrel, or a detachable magazine

@DigitalGermania @LASHYBILLS If you don’t have a stock it’s technically classified as a pistol and you can get around anti “assault rifle” laws

@Gretcie @soligenous_ @somewheresy This is not expected and is antithetical to all the increases in wealth and productivity nationwide, even with inflation more value is being created in the current time than ever before

@eeq16bTY7v @soligenous_ @somewheresy I'm not making an argument for what should happen, I'm saying that's it's entirely expected that a large portion of people in the US today will not have it better than their parents. Like it's exactly expected this would be the case.

You are wrong. Downwardly mobile middle class kids are crashing out and getting into Schizophrenia
Niall Ferguson@nfergus

For those wondering how on earth a @Caltech graduate becomes a would-be assassin, this is your reminder that the Great Awokening was especially demented in California, and that there is no pendulum magically swinging back to sanity in the established universities.

@Gretcie @soligenous_ @somewheresy That’s the problem, not saying we should let all the olds die but this wealth is not going to the younger generations in the ways it should, and inheritances aren’t the answer

@soligenous_ @somewheresy This seems like it will inevitably be the case though in a society which has been at the developed stage for so long no? Especially when people are living so long.

@p0lar_fawn No one is arguing this point, the point of contention is that they looked as good if not better before and now they’ve had a procedure for something unnecessary hinting at real insecurity (which is unattractive to all genders)

@paraconqr @CtrlAltDwayne That isn’t real vibecoding, real vibecoding is scrolling reels while the ai agent builds for you, what you’re describing is AI assisted which is probably way better, the fact that you think they’re the same thing is a good sign because it shows you still learn

The vibecoders are starting to give up because they're learning AI can't do everything for you. They're tools that are powerful in the hands of people who can code, but vibecoders are not real devs.

@ThingBeak @Lolmyfi @PumaChairo A threat is legally a threat if a reasonable person could be expected to perceive it as such, asking a world leader who you obviously don’t know to bomb your ceremony should not be seen as a threat by a reasonable person

@Lolmyfi @PumaChairo You're clearly wrong because even other people in the chat took it seriously and didn't think it was a joke. You don't have a constitutional right to make bomb threats.

@apralky it could be even shorter through no fault of your own if someone accidentally injures you (crashes into your car, etc.) or you develop a chronic illness or malignant tumor, I worry if I don’t get this life right the first time I might find out I don’t really get another chance

Crazy mid-twenties blackpill that "life is short" as a platitude is not some metaphorical declaration on the futility of Earthly Delights but actually very literal -- one comes to notice that 75 years is just very few years

@doulbedoink @peckrnutt (before someone pops in and says genetic gods or something, that's actually pretty common with musicians too. A lot of them have physical traits others aren't born with, to the degree of even thumb or hand size, etc.)

@GyrosEnjoyer @sailaunderscore @georgecursor Imagine if they actually used the 2500 year old design instead of a picture of a preserved coin, this is like wearing a shirt with a picture of a shirt with a design on it, also the history angle is cope

@sailaunderscore @georgecursor When you have the history to actually have 2500 year old designs on them, you use them. Of course someone with only 250 years of history would have a problem with it.

@Z0mbieSt1tches These albums are so good because they deviate from the genres that inspired them in unique ways really well, but if you’re the type of person who only ever listened to these without doing the homework on them you’d never know that and just be a rym parrot

Really dislike the most popular brand of sketch comedy being “it’s cringe when people express any genuine sentiment, because someone else before may have experienced the same thing.” Might be more socially toxic than Woke ever was. The premise is that enjoying things for their own sake is shameful because it might define you as a Type of Guy, so in order to have any genuine emotion you have to couch it in irony to avoid the vulnerability of existing in a continuous sense. Instead of liking a song and thus worrying about how that reflects on you, you inhabit a character that’s The Type of Guy Who Likes That Song for a few minutes. It’s not you, it’s someone else. You’ve never experienced an emotion, except for irreverence and computer-mediated reflexive derision for those who do. We should throw rotting fruit at “sketch comedians” (who do nothing but iterate out the last few cracks of real human experience) in the streets, as the Romans once did to actors and other undesirables
