My wife spent an entire year taking on extra work and smashing all her targets so that she could ask for a pay rise, they actually gave her one and then literally 2 days later our landlord put up our rent by more than the raise because he decided it was time to be paid more money

The extent to which Burnham-scepticism is being framed in these biblical terms is a symptom of non-seriousness. We need to be very sceptical about Burnham. But if the best you’ve got is ‘he’s not Jesus / Moses’ then you’re making no effort to engage with supporters in good faith.

The rise of the Greens has created a space in which it is possible/necessary for a Labour leader to break with a political chronology that exonerates New Labour. The danger is that the rhetoric is not matched by the policy agenda. Now it's for the Greens to 'yes and' this break.
