Weird you cherry pick a small Eastern European country. And yeah I guess if we were ok living in tiny unairconditioned shoeboxes more Americans would own a home. And none of this negates the pottery levels Europeans live at… And that’s so cute you think you aren’t controlled by central banks

I've lived on both sides of the pond so here's my take Homeownership rates are 70-90% in Mediterranean counties. Croatia's is 91%. Spain's is 76%. Canada and America are in the 50-60% range. Auto loans in Europe require 20-30% down payment, not 0% APR with predatory rate hikes later. Croatians don't even have a credit rating (good). I'd rather not live in a Central Bank-owned economy, thank you Low salary + low debt + high net asset values + family inheritance + constant family social assistance + huge amount of relationships = exceptionally high quality of life Would not trade that for any sum of money, let alone access to cheaper loans. Capitalization is not always a good thing. It creates hyperbolic thinking. "Wealth is only a quick loan away," "I'll just do OnlyFans for a year then quit," etc.

People really aren’t aware of how poor Europeans are. The most common salary in Spain is €1,298 per month. An average apartment exceeds €250,000. If you manage to save €250 per month, you’d need 1,000 months to pay for it. That’s more than 83 years to buy yourself an apartment. Is it really worth having public healthcare instead of private insurance when you have to live poor your entire life?

@SeloSlav Sorry but Croatia is a shithole for living. Poverty wages, high western prices, insanely corrupt, bloated and inefficient public services. Croatians are miserable, depressed, and have some of the lowest life expectancy in the EU. The U.S. is on a different planet compared.
