@IAmRyanLaCosse@DaleFer99092112@IHSA_IL Deaddd 😂 Jokes aside, I’m fine with no sports, there are more important things in life. It’s pretty black or white topic to me. My point is that the way we are doing it now (half wearing it, soiled, close contact) isn’t helping prevent the spread of disease. That’s it.
@egroter@DaleFer99092112@IHSA_IL Unless I am thick, sweet, and you want me all on your biscuit, please don't call me honey. I was more so responding to the other person, not you really. But cool! And if you are so safe, no sports is cool. Again, I'm not stopping people from living their best life!
Kuddos to all the IL student athletes who are playing basketball w/ masks on. As a nurse I’m BAFFLED by the logic. It’s ineffective, as they are up & down (constantly), soiled, & in close contact w/ each other anyway. Let them play without the masks, this is CRAZY @IHSA_IL
@VanceHall9@egroter@CharlieFoerster@IHSA_IL I responded with a link to a woman who has a PHD and provides sound guidance. Perhaps put some thought or evidence into your replies.
@egroter@IHSA_IL As an official it’s utterly awful trying to keep a mask on with a whistle and running. But yes, kudos to all who’re doing this to get it in.
@IAmRyanLaCosse@DaleFer99092112@IHSA_IL There’s a reason I have to wear 2 masks, face shield, gown, & gloves for 12 hours per day w/ every patient interaction (who don’t even have covid)
A single surgical mask alone (even when worn properly😉) isn’t enough to stop transmission when you are in prolonged close contact
@DaleFer99092112@egroter@IHSA_IL Correct. There are those of us who don't see any sports as "necessary" during a "pandemic", but folks like me sit back and just let all the smarter than scientist folk whine about every decision.
@Rizzo_Reb@IHSA_IL Trust me, I know. I have been teaching/convincing my pediatric oncology patients for 5 years that they have to wear a mask at all times in public/around people (before the general public wore them). This includes toddlers who feel like garbage & young adults w/ special needs.
@egroter@IHSA_IL This past fall and upcoming spring, my TOPSoccer players keep masks on the entire session, even outdoors. These are special needs kids with sensory issues, and they know how to wear masks. It's simple stuff. #WearAMask
@mlucash9@mnhopper1s@IHSA_IL Yes exactly, I know it can be done. But look at the mode of transmission, the amount of time in close contact, & the effectiveness of a soiled mask (even when it is worn properly). If a kid of the team has it, science tells me that it will spread with or without a soiled mask.
@mnhopper1s@egroter@IHSA_IL Not arguing the feasibility. Just not logical IMO. My mask would have been soaked through in warm ups when I was playing, rendering it pretty much useless.
@VanceHall9@CometsNebraska@VictorH2O15@opxdesigns I would block you, but seeing as trolling twitter on IHSA mask mandates is your only interest on your fake twitter page, I’ll let ya have your fun. We all have to have a hobby & a way to fill our day. I respect that this is yours 👍🏻 Hope you have good rest of your night 🙂
@CometsNebraska@VictorH2O15@opxdesigns@egroter@IHSA_IL Completely moronic response. It's the infantile equivalent of: "Well, everything you just said explains why I'm wrong, but I'm going to keep insisting I am right!" Brilliant.
@CharlieFoerster@IHSA_IL Yes exactly! And I can’t even blame them. I did full workouts with my volleyball team with my mask on (properly) and I know first hand that is it incredibly difficult to do any physical activity with a mask on, let alone basketball.
@egroter@IHSA_IL Most of them play with them under their nose and mouth. At my sons 8th grade game Thursday a kid on the other team had his literally around his neck it was a joke.
