Infertility is, really, the most soul crushing and mentally draining thing I've dealt with in a long, long time.

@joshchafetz I think it really depends on the specifics. We had an annual clerk brunch at a restaurant (organized by the current clerks) and everyone paid for themselves by venmo’ing one of the current clerks. I would’ve never expected the judge to pay that whole cost every year.

Learning that most judges have their clerks pay for reunions, which seems tacky as hell to me ...

In a new essay, @egwaldman & @ProfBCrawford respond to commentary on their 2022 book, Menstruation Matters. Incorporating these new perspectives, they make the case that post-Dobbs, focusing on the intersection of law & menstruation matters more than ever. bit.ly/3zR6rNo

@ProfJErickson Got it! I haven’t felt that way because that was my name throughout law school (& college). So to me, the diplomas reflect those portions of my life. But maybe it also feels less jarring for me bc I still use the “Gold” as part of my professional name.

@egwaldman That's a great question. For me, I care about my law school diploma. Others may care about both. But I'm a lawyer at heart (deeply and truly), and it feels weird to display a diploma where my own law school refused to change it to reflect my name.

Can I vent on an admittedly minor issue? More than 20 years ago, I got married. It was two days after I graduated from law school, and I changed my name. My diploma was issued in my maiden name, so I asked my law school for a new copy of my diploma with my married name on it.

Augh! Another addition that I'm curious not about a travel budget. I'm most curious about summer research pay—paid based on a proposal? paid after completed? paid after placed? pay varies depending on placement? (But maybe that's the same budget at some places).

Trying to gather info on how different law schools do $$ for professor research. Summer money? Flat fee or %? Paid before project and/or after? Bonuses for placement? Would be grateful to any #lawprofs willing to share info and/or opinions.

I’m thrilled that my new article, “Just Extracurriculars?” will be published in ⁦⁦@MinnesotaLawRev⁩! I argue that minimizing extracurricular activities as “just” extracurriculars leads to unjust results, esp for students’ constitutional rights. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

@GreerDonley Totally agree. I think it’s totally understandable that many people prefer to remain private about these things, but I also think the lack of public discussion about them has kept others from realizing what’s at stake.

@taffyakner Loved the book and show. Question: the Adam/Libby marriage seems in much worse shape (and he seems much angrier at her) on the show than in the book. Was that intentional or did you envision it being equally rocky in the book?
