In the States, this room would cost over $1,000 per night. Hotels in China are actually way cheaper than in Japan. Hotels in the main tourist areas of Shanghai may be a bit more, but they’re still very affordable!

Crazy! This is what our $81 hotel apartment in Chongqing (Cyberpunk City) looks like. Our room is 2,000 sq ft and comes w/3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, a huge wraparound balcony & a private elevator!!! Can’t believe this room only costs $81 per night! Name of hotel in reply 🤯

Here’s how a new @McDonalds gets built: Corp buys the land, deals with the city, obtains all permits, picks the contractor, and right before the shovel hits the dirt they will either award the site to a franchisee or keep it as a Corp location (more rare these days). Which franchisee gets it? It depends. Multiple factors include who is already in the area, how well you perform, who is qualified to expand, and lastly - cannibalization. If a new store impacts another franchisee, a one-time check is paid to offset the impact. This money must be used for CAPEX or to increase capacity at the impacted restaurant. Once the new franchisee is awarded the restaurant, they choose and pay for the decor and kitchen package (about $1M in those two items alone). Corp does all the heavy lifting on new builds. We staff, train, and operate it. This is completely different from most franchises, where the franchisee builds (and often owns the land) and develops the business.

@SoCal360 Went in 2016. There are plenty of different sites with sculptures during the day. Nighttime was only 1 big one. Daytime was OK for me (from NY) but nighttime was really cold. It may be way different now.

Really want to visit the coolest place in Asia, but nighttime temperature can drop to –15°. Don’t think we’ve ever experienced anything colder than 10° before. Bulky clothes would take up our entire carry ons if we go. The other option is to rent jackets & boots out there. ❄️

Zootopia: Hot Pursuit is still an incredibly fun ride at Shanghai Disneyland. We rode it 3 times yesterday thanks to the single-rider line! 🦊🐰🚓

Crazy! The park was not too busy today but there was a 5.5 hour wait to meet LinaBell from Duffy and Friends at Shanghai Disneyland 🤯

I would LOVE to know the story behind this, but guessing it went something like: “I DON’T CARE. I AM NOT SELLING!” Repeated over and over, as the price kept rising. Legend 🤣

@realEstateTrent The building was sold in Jan 2022 for 4.9m. My guess the buyer tried to flip it to the developer but the tenants in 3F & 4R are rent stabilized and wouldn't move so they couldn't deliver the building vacant. You can see they make a lot of complaints on the HPD web site in 2022.

Important considerations for owners/PMs before deciding to evict for any reason other than non-payment: You won't be able to collect rent during the eviction. For some operators it's a big hit, especially if it's a large unit and if the tenant fights back, dragging the case a few months
