My six-year-old daughter Colette came into my room this morning to inform me that she was too sick to go to school. I told her she could stay home, but she’d have to clean her room and couldn’t watch TV. Miraculously, she made a full recovery and is now at school.

I think @Lets_Talk_HC 's apology about the premature commitment to the debate before ironing out the details covers much of the challenge there. Given his documented history of committing to and completing debates with many others, I think your allegation of prevarication is a bit unfounded. Of course, this hang up might have been too much of a turn off for you. No judgement from me. I would just encourage less insinuation in the future.

He agreed to the debate. Then he changed the date and insisted on new terms and conditions. I'm more than willing to be transparent about my arguments - but there was so much prevarication during the negotiations for the debate that it seemed inevitable that he would flip-flop again when the new date arrived. Better to seek out a replacement.

I’d like to apologize to @CapturingChrist and @emuse1955 for prematurely accepting this debate. I agreed to participate in good faith and was open to a substantive, productive debate. However, I have not been able to get clarification on the other side’s position or what exactly will be argued. Without that basic foundation, it’s not really possible to have a meaningful or productive debate. It could turn into talking past each other rather than engaging on the issues being presented on both sides. In any debate, it’s my goal to understand the other side’s position to fairly address it. Based on these circumstances, I have decided not to proceed with the debate in order to avoid any misunderstandings about the topic at hand. Cameron and Ethan have been gracious to me in the exchange and I appreciate their goodwill.

@emuse1955 @Lets_Talk_HC @CapturingChrist This sounds a bit exaggerated. It is common and even desirable to ensure you understand each other's background and general positions (whether or not they would be included in the debate) to ensure debaters wouldn't be speaking past one another.

To be clear, I clarified my position to Hayden and he agreed to do the debate. Then, he reached out to us today and said that the date that he proposed no longer worked and he said that he was unwilling to proceed unless we deferred the debate by a month and did a Zoom call where I previewed my arguments for him.

The scaffolding on the Salt Lake Temple helped restore the temple to its original beauty with more strength. It was there to help protect the House of the Lord—evidence of love and care for something sacred.   In our lives, the Lord offers scaffolding as well. Parents, good friends, teachers, leaders, commandments, covenants, and even seasons of correction and stretching—they are there to help us gain better access to the light and life that will bring us back to our heavenly home and safely reach our eternal destination.   We rejoice in Jesus Christ because He is the master builder. His grace is sufficient to refine, restore, repair, rebuild and bless your life now and forever.

My neighbor’s two large dogs are pooping/peeing in my yard, and the urine is killing patches of our grass. We’ve already talked to their owner about it, but nothing has changed. Has anyone dealt with this successfully? Any advice to keep the dogs from doing this? Not trying to start a neighbor war, or do anything that will harm the dogs, I just trying to protect our lawn and stop cleaning up after dogs that aren’t ours.

I was deeply honored to receive an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Utah.    During my senior year there, Jon Huntsman Sr. offered me a position at his company before I had graduated. After sincere prayer and thoughtful counsel with my wife, Melanie, I chose to accept. That decision meant I did not complete my degree at the time. To receive this recognition from my alma mater feels like a tender, full-circle blessing for which I am profoundly grateful.    The counsel I shared with the graduating class applies to each of us: love your fellow man and look for the good in others. You will always be blessed in return by how you treat people with love.    I am grateful that the Lord has guided my path and placed individuals along my way who have shaped my faith and testimony. I bear witness that He knows each of us personally. As we trust Him and strive to love others as He does, He will consecrate our efforts and lead us to become more than we could ever become on our own.

I’m beyond excited to surprise my wife on her 40th birthday. It’s May the 4th, which is perhaps why she loves the original Star Wars trilogy so much. She has no idea what’s coming, but this is her surprise gift. It was made by my good friend, artist and author, Steven Bohls. I’ve been doing photography work for him for years, slowly building up enough credit to get one of his pieces for my wife. This is a solid sheet of 1 inch acrylic, 4 feet square. He cuts out one layer at a time with a massive CNC router, then fills each section with a different color of acrylic. You really can’t understand how cool, or how huge, these pieces are until you see one in person. My wife fell in love with this piece and told me, when Steven sold the original, that she wished we could have afforded to buy it. What she doesn’t know is that he made a second one. For her. May the 4th can't come soon enough! (and no, she is not on X, so there's no way she is going to see this).
