It’s my birthday today! @Sanaz_artt made this animation for me and I’m obsessed. Seriously… look at that 2D animation, so gorgeous!!

In my experience, the eyes often carry more weight in facial animation than the mouth or cheeks. I try to give the eyes a little more attention so they feel right.

Animating takes time, but it's rewarding.

Here is an old eye analysis I did a few years ago. I was deep into learning about human eye muscles and how we can get a fleshy feel around the eye mask area.

Some beginners feel that using video reference is ‘cheating’ but it really isn’t. It’s simply a helpful tool for discovering interesting choices and nuances we might not come up with on our own.

Saw this performance back in 2020 and had to try a quick animation test. A few months ago, I revisited it using Ramon rigs, which was such a refreshing experience. I’ve always loved close-up shots :)

@ehsanAnim Thanks for the response how about the connecting of your video to the animation, is that a feature of Maya too? Or can it also be done in Blender?

Finally finished! This was another tough practice I set for myself to improve my walk cycles. I even had to reanimate the girl twice 🤣 don't know how I did that. Also, Huge thanks to @ehsanAnim for the helpful notes on the animation!

@RustyOnLife I animated this in Maya, which is the industry standard. But if you don’t have access to Maya, Blender is also a great option. It's 100% free and powerful.
