@RobertMidgley07 The correct map. These bases are Trojan horses plotting against the Republic of 🇨🇾Cyprus. It is unacceptable to picture in a map the invaded area as a ligitimate form of a 'republic' and promoting in that way the illegal (according to the UN) actions of 🦃.

This isn’t accurate. Türkiye hasn’t “advanced” anywhere since 1974 - it has maintained the status quo as a guarantor power protecting Turkish Cypriots. The UK bases aren’t there to deter Türkiye. The UK and Türkiye are NATO allies with strong defence and trade ties. The real issue is political. The UK has spent decades accommodating the Greek Cypriot side while sidelining Turkish Cypriots - and now that same side is openly challenging British sovereignty with EU backing. That’s the risk. Not Türkiye.

Akrotiri and Dhekelia are British, and they’re not negotiable Cyprus can’t abolish someone else’s sovereign land These sovereign areas also reinforce the UN buffer zone and deter any further Turkish advancement - they're essential to local and regional security and stability

Türkiye’s Defence Ministry, in its weekly briefing, said the Greek Cypriot NOTAM is “invalid and null,” confirming TRNC’s counter-NOTAM stands. Ankara warned Cyprus has been made a target by foreign military build-up and will use its guarantor rights if needed.
