@jefielding My 1st ever private investment -- I was 1st check into my buddy's co. He grew it to $20M+ in rev. Then he got inexplicably pushed out. They started hiring "big timers". Filed for bankruptcy within 2 years. The early investors like me saw nothing. 😢

Founder I know was fired by his board of directors at the series B (nothing terrible, just not performing up to par in their eyes) and ended up selling half his shares in a secondary transaction. One year later under new leadership, the company tanks. No one makes a dollar except the founder who had sold $5m. Interesting to see who gets the last laugh in these scenarios 🤷🏼‍♀️

I generally take 1-2 calls a week with founders/startups totally outside my areas of focus, solely as a favor to a friend, relative or co-investor/LP. Starting to think these are doing more harm than good on both sides- thinking through best way to handle moving forward 🤔
