Upon graduation, I paused to reflect on what my PhD had truly taught me. Was it just how to write papers, respond to brutal reviewer comments, and survive without much sleep? Or did it leave a deeper imprint on me — beyond the metrics and milestones? Turns out, it did. A dissertation has its margins—blank spaces we don’t write in, but live through. That’s where the real transformation happens. This transformation is what I’ve tried to capture in a blog, "Margins of My Dissertation: Life Lessons My PhD Taught Me." It’s not necessarily a guide to academic success. It’s a personal account of what I really learned & carry with me for life. In it, I ask & Answer : Are we forgetting the human behind the author? Can we be rigorous and still be kind? Would I recommend a PhD to those considering it? Read on to find out. Link in the thread below 👇
