Slowly but surely the Marathon concept from 2023 is being realized into fruition with the NEW style. Elements of them are there in a weird feeling imo. Especially with night time dire marsh. I am so excited for the future of this game 🔥

Marathon solo is as incredible as it is exhausting. Back to back to back to back zero progress runs suck.
You die, fail your "and exfil" objective, achieve only a lighter vault and ultimately backwards meta progress. Repeating of course. Arc Raiders does some very clever things to avoid this issue. Not that Marathon should just copy everything from arc and sand down all the edges.
I really think Bungie could alleviate this by letting us run 1 or 2 side contracts along side a priority contract, so even if you die you are still more likely to make some form of progress.
But idk how else you could address this?

- Hate campaign fueled by the usual grifters & the people who feel burned about Destiny 2 despite it being an 8yr+ old game
- Extraction Shooters are niche, especially one that doesnt hold your hand every step of the way which scares off the modern casual audience
- Early Alpha Playtest, Art Scandal & the delay to the original release landed a back to back to back blow that spawned nothing but negative talks about the game. Just look at Paul Tassi’s headlines during that time lol
- Cheaters aren’t a rampant issue to like 90% of the playerbase but since that 10% is mostly occupied by streamers, it would seem like it
Probably my 4 biggest reasons with the cheating one being very distant in contributing to the actual reason.

Every dev and their mother is aware that the solo experience sucks, but they can't exactly just drop a PvE map or something to that effect on a whim. It takes dev time that they're likely already working on.

As we get deeper into Season 1, we've been monitoring your feedback around the current combat sandbox closely. We wanted to talk a little about a few of the topics we're seeing frequently from the community, and some updates we're planning.
💣Too Many Grenades
A big topic in the community right now is that it's not a good experience to open up a fight only to be barraged with dozens of grenades. We're looking to push some changes to stock counts and stack sizes before the end of the season. We're keeping an eye on the overall usage of equipment and will make additional changes as necessary.
🪙Gold Ares Railgun
The Ares railgun with a Prestige mod being able to one-shot Runners with purple or gold shields is unintentional, and we'll be issuing a fix in a future update. We want it to feel strong and fun to use without being so effective it becomes overly frustrating to play against.
🔫WSTR Damage Nerf
The WSTR damage nerf was a temporary nerf and we just released a more nuanced set of changes earlier today in Update 1.0.6.2. While we aren't looking to change the two-shot breakpoints, the WSTR indeed took a bigger hit than we were intending with the temporary nerf and we intend for this change to put it in a better place.
It should have similar effectiveness against AI as before the nerf as well have less damage fallout at range. Go try it out and let us know what you think.
