@ReddyEPS @andreanatalemd @drjohnm This study is a diversion to my opinion and do not answer the main question: do patients with EF<35% and ESRD really benefit from ICD implant, as these patients have reduced life expectancy and high complications CIED-related post-implant? Can’t answer definitely without RCT

@drjohnm John, your comment implies something completely different than what the study was designed for and concluded. I think your comment should be edited to clarify that this study was done in pts who would have otherwise not qualified for an ICD.

I have long held that ICDs will not help people w advanced kidney disease. (It’s all about competing risks of death.) Thanks to the Dutch, we have EVIDENCE of no benefit. BTW—This includes the much hyped S-ICD. Good on Circ but this should be the lead in NEJM

Long awaited and disappointing but not unexpected: ICDs don’t improve survival in dialysis ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CI… h/t @drpaddymark

@GillKentucky A possible conclusion from the CABANA trial: medications and ablation are both reasonable first line options. Give a fair explanation to the patient of both options and let them decide.
