@eldnaht @thejacksvn @sincerelysheens It's infuriating right? What if I tell you this is the first time in history FIFA keeps all the profits for themselves? Before this tournament all ticket proceedings were kept by the hosting stadiums. Not anymore. And look at those prices now.

@87Devs @thejacksvn @sincerelysheens If that’s the case then ticket prices really are incredibly high without any justification. I thought it was meant to help countries that needed some help.

@eldnaht @thejacksvn @sincerelysheens Not a cent goes to charity, profits get "reinvested in football", which means executives get a fat fucking pay day, but it's not all bad, at least it's legal, previous editions wasn't, they still did it.

@sincerelysheens The World Cup is not a charity event. If you can’t qualify, you aren’t good enough. There’s nothing wrong with 3rd place teams advancing. Qualifiers are one of the best parts of international football. You saying “hardly anyone follows” them is revealing.

@stoolpresidente Set us back? That performance lines right up with who we are. 5 things that are due to happen before we make semis 1. England MAKING a final again 2. England winning a World Cup again 3. An AFCON team MAKING a final 4. Netherlands winning a final 5. Portugal winning a final

The USMNT embarrassed our country. That performance against Belgium set soccer back close to 100 years

“You had one job, and you blew it.” USMNT legend Alexi Lalas believes Mauricio Pochettino should not get a contract extension after crashing out of the 2026 World Cup. He was speaking on talkSPORT, when he was asked if Pochettino should stay or go. “Go,” Lalas answered. “I mean, it's not that I want him to leave. I just think that this cycle has run its course. “When it comes to Mauricio Pochettino, you had one job. And it was the game against Belgium. “You win that game, then you're in some rarefied air. And it's not gravy but let's be honest, you're playing against Spain. And you take your chances, you're back in an underdog type of role. “So I think that they [U.S. Soccer] move on. I believe he's had a good time, but you had one job, and you blew it. “And, you know, you live and die by that. Every coach understands that, every manager understands that, and certainly Mauricio Pochettino does.” Pochettino’s $6 million a year contract with U.S Soccer expires this summer. Should he stay or should he go, like Lalas said?

@MartonIvanyi @NobletStrength That’s such an unusual way of thinking about it from an American perspective. I can see how you would view each state as a separate country but that is completely backwards.

@eldnaht @NobletStrength And it's the European UNION. The Olympics is a European scam to make ya'll feel good while Europeans rack up most of the medals.

@ToddSherred @alexjmingolla But there are billionaire fans of the sport. That’s how they got the current USMNT coach. I think that’s a good start. Would euro/pro teams pay American academies the same way?

@eldnaht @alexjmingolla MLS has nowhere close the money that flows through European leagues. The problem is the business model. In Europe, if your academy develops a player that goes pro, your academy gets paid. In America, they make their money off the parent of the kid. Massive difference.

Europeans still misunderstand this argument. There are ~192 wide receivers in the NFL. These guys are 6+ feet tall, fast, strong, quick feet, powerful jump, great reflexes, elite positioning, spatial IQ etc. We’re not saying if you gave them a soccer ball today they’d outscore Haaland. But if you gave those 192 NFL receivers a ball at their feet instead of in their hands at 5 years old, and you trained them to be strikers with the same intensity that took them to the NFL? I promise you’d have at least one elite number 9 among the bunch.
T@tdgator9

Haaland is what Americans mean when we say our bigger, stronger, faster athletes play other sports instead of soccer but if they focused on it they’d be elite.

@TwoEarsVincent @alexjmingolla That makes sense. In America I see a lot of Mexican immigrants playing soccer games at local parks with old goals quite often. I imagine if more people joined with them that would create the effect you are talking about.

@eldnaht @alexjmingolla the atheticism is secondary anyway. anybody can work out. this is about growing talent organically in the hood. thats the way it works in any country in the world for football

@ThanstonCrabb @NobletStrength So how Europeans feel about track and field over there is how most Americans feel about soccer. Soccer isn’t cool here unless they are on the main stage every four years.

@eldnaht @NobletStrength No. You can train technique but not talent. No reason an 'athlete' would be gifted in a game of skill. Of course having both is the holy grail. And every country has athletes, the US just care more about track and field events than europeans. We don't invest in it, it's not cool

@Matthew_Sean96 2 parts, 1- bad coaching and preference of bigger stronger instead of skill and brains , 2- pro path, other countries have several pro clubs within miles, Div 1-10 all pro w pro/relegation. here we have college and all its distractions and bad soccer.

Okay, I keep getting told that participation in soccer is in a great spot, so if that's the case, how come we don't develop enough talent where the US can't get past the Rd of 16 in the World Cup?

So many people complaining about youth soccer in the U.S. I have one recommendation for you. Stop paying for it. If you hate it like you suggest, stop paying forward and move overseas. I’m sure if your kid is as good as you think, you’ll be able to make it there.

@MartonIvanyi @NobletStrength Breaking down by individual countries shows no single European nation exceeds the US total; top performers like Germany (~326-372 golds) and Great Britain (~300) trail significantly behind the USA's unified performance across Summer and Winter Games.

@NobletStrength What if I told you, that the Olympics is a European scam, where we let the USA and China battle for "1st place", while Europe has more than twice as many gold medals (3300+) as both combined (1231+330)? 😜

@ThanstonCrabb @NobletStrength It’s just that technique can be taught if given the proper environment. Freak athleticism is the advantage of everyone has the same technical ability.

@NobletStrength There is an argument that USA would compete at the top table if you were serious from young. You would have the biggest pool to select from. But you are using a much more bone headed argument that 1) you uniquely produce athletes and 2) that technique is secondary to athleticism

@C3342915421434 @ArchysLife @NobletStrength The problem with using Haaland as an example is that he is a total outlier. He is also a specialist, who is limited in many aspects of football. But at what he does he is a unique talent.

@AsafeWingester @C3342915421434 @ArchysLife @NobletStrength Messi is an anomaly. America has a better chance of developing the shorter but extremely athletic players that aren’t tall enough for basketball or are not interested in American football and baseball or hockey. I imagine in the next 12 years there will be a lot more USA talent.

@C3342915421434 @ArchysLife @NobletStrength I don't say anything about haaland don't be good, he is. And Messi walks in the pitch almost the whole game. If you get the statistics among the players in the WC, Messi is not even in the top 10 more fastest or even in the top 50 more strong.

@TwoEarsVincent @alexjmingolla Those are who I’ve been talking about the NBA shooting guards and point guards. The “athletes” it seems the disconnect is that when Americans say their best athletes the rest of the world thinks we mean very tall and large but those are separate traits.

@alexjmingolla You don't even understand who would be the american ones making it to be football stars. it's not your giant tight ends idiot. it's Allen Iverson. It's Kyrie Irving. they'd be the ones honing their skills in the hood for long enough to be good

@alexjmingolla Practice makes perfect yes. The real issue that seems to be a huge disconnect is who is training them from 5? If they are stateside during the most developmental years, long shot. If they went to EU and through an academy? Theres a chance. It’s a development issue here.
