@avidseries "Soulless" isn't a sane descriptor of people who want to live in densely populated places.
English

@EdKrassen Well. I guess we'll just have to make more of the stuff here in the US. Awe, shucks.

BREAKING: Trump’s reckless tariff stunt just broke the mail.
By killing the long-standing duty-free rule on small imports, he’s triggered a worldwide backlash that going to be devastating for America.
Postal services in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, France, Austria, the UK, Belgium, Spain, Netherlands, India, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand & more are HALTING shipments to the U.S.
This means:
– Millions of everyday packages stuck in limbo
– Higher costs on basic goods Americans rely on
– Delays crushing small businesses that depend on global suppliers
– Chaos for consumers who just want affordable delivery
Instead of “standing up to China,” Trump has managed to make it harder for ordinary Americans to get their mail. His incompetence is now literally returning packages to sender.

@Xp_shenron @HotepJesus It was mild for me, glad I got vaxxed.
English

@electronluke @HotepJesus I had covid, hit me REAL BAD.
English

@HotepJesus Tomorrow will be too. And the day after that. And the day after that... I was hospitalized with that 3 years ago. I was considering it, but thank God I was convinced not to.

I wish conservatives got this straight:
Without blue states, America would look like a failing country; patchy internet, collapsing schools, no tech, no medicine, no future.
Red states cash the federal checks. Blue states write them.
You don’t fund the nation. You bleed it dry.
The math is simple: the places screaming the loudest bring the least to the table.

English

@jaenicc @m75595_mr @Empty_America Maybe some selection bias. And I don't doubt it's hard for transplanted kids in a certain age range.
English

OK, so I can find something interesting in every state, but what are the 5 states I would be most resistant to moving to?
Kansas, Massachusetts, Hawaii, New Hampshire, Minnesota.
Kansas: Climate is rough, there is very little if any wilderness or remote land, just not my thing.
Mass: Very intrusive government, expensive, not my vibe whatsoever, I would like the seaside but the same thing is available in other states I like better.
Hawaii: Have heard infinite horror stories about the unpleasant locals, and being stuck on an smallish island isn't my thing at all. Wife was a military kid, most kids who move to Hawaii find it a very bad experience, wouldn't do that to my kids.
New Hampshire: I've been several times, just not my vibe, don't know how else to say it. I've been to RI, Conn, VT, I like them pretty well but I'm just not suited for Mass or NH.
Minnesota: Not for me socially. Great people but I'm not one of them, I would stand out in a bad way.
English

@jaenicc @m75595_mr @Empty_America I've lived here for 12 years and that hasn't been my experience at all.
English

@m75595_mr @Empty_America Hawaiian natives have a seething hatred for anyone who isn’t from there.

@joesanders33 @Erick_CG23 @brianschatz @pwrhungry Not interested in your favorite pop author quacks.
English

@electronluke @Erick_CG23 @brianschatz Nah, none of you do. Would you like a reading list? For starters you should follow @pwrhungry
English

@joesanders33 @Erick_CG23 @brianschatz That's completely false, solar+storage has already decreased prices on my local grid and is doing so on much larger scales elsewhere. No moving parts and no fuel.
English

@electronluke @Erick_CG23 @brianschatz What would be cool is if that chart had no solar and just nuclear with steep lines. Solar is totally unviable on a functioning energy market.
English

@joesanders33 @Erick_CG23 @brianschatz I know much more than you. So do energy administrators in every country in the world outside the US, who are currently installing solar faster than any other energy source.

English

@electronluke @Erick_CG23 @brianschatz It’s all true. You need to learn about grid level energy bro. Get out of your bullshit echo chamber.

I think S. Korea is the very last country on earth I might wish to "die for."
By all reports it's uniquely depressing, possibly the most depressing human existence ever, I wouldn't lift one finger to prevent Juche from running wild on it.
Morrisan15@morris_que14
I told you, the Norks are well trained and disciplined. Americans and South Korea going to get fucked up by them
English

Of course. Neither should be on a grid. Garbage energy sources. They have to be backed up by reliable sources, and they leave grids open to price fluctuations at times of high demand.
And that’s before we get to how expensive they are throughout the chain, totally dependent on fossil fuels, and not renewable at all. Horrible for the environment.
English

@DrCatharineY We had headlines like this for over ten year on mrna for cancer before covid. They just never worked. In the ten years of testing we saw headlines like this ,it was just claims never truth.

@NoiseesoiN @ingelramdecoucy @allenanalysis The only places where food makes up a large portion of the economy are poor countries.
English

@ingelramdecoucy @allenanalysis They still think "corporate headquarters is where stuff is made."
Like all of the food grown in Chicago.

@peterrhague You could say the same thing about lettuce, which is frequently a source of E. coli outbreaks. Maybe all lettuce should be boiled, then packed in a sterile container? apnews.com/article/mcdona…
I’m serious, btw. It seems like mostly when there’s an E. coli problem, it’s lettuce.
English

These people getting sick from raw milk are just inexperienced and not doing it right. Trick is to take your raw milk, heat it to a bit below boiling point for about 15 seconds and then decant it into a new container. Then your raw milk will be safe.
This can be a bit off a faff to do at home though - so my new startup offers it as a service. We call it “Haguisation”. We are an innovative company that will even deliver the product to your door in a zero emission vehicle.
The future is here!
