🧵Great conversation with the Hollygrove Neighborhood Association this morning! I shared updates from the recent special tax session, including protecting the film tax credit and the historic preservation tax credit—both vital to New Orleans’ economy.

We were able to assist in the equivalent of over 12,000 meals for families across South Louisiana.

It’s full circle to now be the legislator helping to sponsor the event. The event is informative and well worth your time if you are interested in advocacy and policy in our state.

Honored to partner with @LAProgressAct for another one of their Legislative Advocacy Days. I actually attended one of the Advocacy Days prior to my time as an elected official.

We as a society must protect our most vulnerable citizens from potentially harmful and addictive products. Much like we already regulate the promotion and sale of products from the tobacco and alcohol industries.

Those same profits will also be coming, most disturbingly of all, from our youth whose brain functions are not developed enough to process the potential downsides of online sports betting.

We are slowly headed towards a public health crisis in our State and Nation. Some of our elected officials take the position that as long as an industry makes money, societal cost can be damned. #lagov #lalege
