1. The ACNA was provoked into being as a response to the Sexual Revolution, meaning the elevation of Gene Robinson to Bishop. It has unfortunately lost credibility on these issues due to the appalling response to sexual abuse, adultery, grooming, and other sexual sins, several cases that I know of which have never even seen the light of day. It’s similar to the Catholic Church losing entire nations like Ireland in part due to clergy preaching against sexual sin and abortion in public, while raping children and having all kinds of sex at the same time.

@eleysium @DOMA_Misconduct @The_ACNA From the very beginning of this canonical reform process, Ashey has been very concerned about the bishops. First, they tried to delete the option for laity to bring charges to the bishops. Now, the proposal seems intended to prevent charges by the laity.

APPALLING—Is @the_ACNA's Title IV Reform meant to protect laity....or BISHOPS? Bp Ashey, the architect of reform, suggests that under new Title IV—charges against Archbishop Wood would've been QUASHED. Ashey fidgets while anticipating whether he may someday face a complaint.

@eleysium @DOMA_Misconduct @The_ACNA In my opinion there is a “we’ve all done it” mentality when it comes to allegations of misconduct failures or abuse of power. Clergy need to see reform more through the lens of a voiceless daughter instead of exclusively from the side of a falsely accused clergy club member.

The Sam Allberry situation is sad, but it's also worth remembering that he's part of Bp. Lowenfield's collection of "Canons" like Ray Ortlund who aren't actually resident in the ACNA.

The ACNA needs an investigation into why people like Todd Atkinson, Sam Allberry, etc. keep getting placed into leadership. It doesn’t seem like the due diligence done to investigate people’s backgrounds is worth much of anything. And remember that, according to George Conger, a current sitting bishop failed to follow the law and report a child pornographer.
