Is it true that parishes in @the_ACNA can 'threaten to leave' over their support for women's ordination? I thought such actions were out of step with Anglican polity & the canons. I guess the parishes who want to ordain women are just afforded special treatment by the province?

@the_ostj @DOMA_Misconduct Two churches threaten to leave if they don’t get A. Other churches quietly considering leaving if they DO get A. Clergy telling laity not to split diocese. Bishop discourages having to start new process, denies floor request for more than 4 min before vote to send to CoB.

Could not help but think of the ACNA Gulf Coast election being sent to the College of Bishops when I saw this.

It's got great biblical precedence and in the case of the Diocese of Mid-America the result was two good and godly bishops. @markmarshall/note/p-198688030?r=7vw5w" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@markmarshall/…

@Fr_Kenneth_G @The_ACNA Hi @Fr_Kenneth_G, I appreciate the willingness to answer questions. Why is the bishop's relative listed as a reports receiver? Is this considered normative practice in the JAFC? Did this practice receive provincial approval and if so, when?

Is it standard practice for a bishop's family member to be appointed as his own diocesan reports receiver in @the_ACNA? This is from the earliest archive of the JAFC's safeguarding page (Bp Derek Jones). For how long was the province aware of this practice?

ACNA News: JAFC Bp Derek Jones has finally been served a summons. Why was he summoned two months after Archbishop Wood was, in February? Is @the_ACNA seeking to try Wood & Jones under "new Title IV"—as suggested in recent remarks by the architect of the reforms, Bp Phil Ashey?

@lancelormand Or, at least set out a policy of full transparency going forward. Folks with arch-aspirations like Bp Chip want to use the Ruch situation as a political club, which prob will not help anything. If Bp Dobbs lays out a policy of full transparency going forward, it'd be a good step.

The ACNA should release the full transcript of the Ruch trial, and speak to what happened between prosecutors, and remove any NDAs if they exist, and not keep canonical charges secret, and make all future proceedings public. The church is called to have at least the same level of transparency as a secular court.

ADOSC's standing committee is acting courageously by asking these questions. Why are they giving their own bishop, Chip Edgar, a 'pass'? Edgar's mishandling of the Wood complainants served more than anything to empower & shield the archbishop from scrutiny—for over a year.
Kendall Harmon@KendallHarmon6

A Message from the #Anglican Diocese of #SouthCarolina’s Standing Committee about recent #ACNA matters--'We have submitted resolutions regarding the public release of the transcript of the Ruch trial and the findings of the independent investigation to the Executive Committee for consideration at Provincial Council. We are seeking to build a coalition of other ACNA dioceses who share our concerns about the work of the Court for the Trial of a Bishop and the importance of transparency. We are doing everything in our power to ensure that the complainants in our Diocese receive fair treatment and transparency in the process. To that end, we want to publicly say how disappointed we were when a video...of a lecture given given by an ACNA bishop promoted falsehood about the complainants as well as prognostication about the outcome of the trial. While he apologized privately to the College of Bishops and granted permission for his apology to be shared, we believe that, given the wide dissemination of that video (now removed) he should disseminate his apology as widely, and we call on the Province to address this matter.' mailchi.mp/29696557da74/s… #parishministry #ethics #dueprocess #falsehoods #archbishopWoodtrial #Ruchtrial

It was Bp Chip Edgar who empowered Steve Wood to become archbishop of @the_ACNA. Edgar was briefed on the allegations of sexual harassment in Jul 2024. He sat on them while Wood was invested in Oct, counseled complainants to frame themselves as 'rumormongers', & never endorsed.

@KendallHarmon6 @ArlieColes @Livng_Church Bishop Chip Edgar is one of the more honest bishops in ACNA, a possible replacement for Steve Wood if he is found guilty of the crimes he has allegedly committed. It would also be a time to unite the two SC dioceses.

@ChanaSophi I see what you're saying. I believe you're correct that Article VI refers only to beliefs required for salvation, and that I was mistaken in applying this Article. I've deleted the OP because I don't wish to spread false notions about the Articles of Religion.

@DOMA_Misconduct Article VI addresses the sufficiency of scripture for salvation. Articles of Faith are necessary for salvation in this context. Since WO is not necessary for salvation, it's not an Article of Faith.

@ChanaSophi "... so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be proved thereby, is not to be required of any man, that it should be believed as an article of the Faith ..." Belief in WO is required of clergy as an article of faith in C4SO.

Several commentators have suggested that the college of bishops may devise a 'creative solution' by selecting neither candidate. Perhaps. And if they do, the answer to Fr Sharpe's question will be a resounding: "𝐍𝐎."

FR BEN SHARPE: "Can a man with my Biblical convictions be a bishop @the_ACNA?" Parishes in @DioceseWGC have "threatened to leave" if Sharpe is elected, demanding women's right to preach on Sundays. Fr @JonBeadle SMIRKS while his wife slams Sharpe as "illegitimizing" women.
