Cannot wait to share this cracker, championed by @monicaheisey: the lost 1929 bestselling sensation of a young divorcée losing and finding herself in NYC: what a voice - the hedonistic buzz of absinthe cocktails with an emotional hangover that hits HARD! thebookseller.com/rights/faber-n…

@Nigella_Lawson @KitchenBee Such a lovely celebration - thank you! Over the moon you loved these eccentric recipes as much as me: I had such fun archivally foraging for them. Wondering if @NigelSlater might find them intriguing - can’t resist spreading the word about Agatha Christie’s hot bean salad ..

And a very special #CookbookCorner shout-out to Sylvia Plath’s Tomato Soup Cake: A Compendium of Classic Authors’ Favourite Recipes, with a charming foreword by @KitchenBee. I couldn’t possibly love this book more! You might not want to eat all the recipes (one that transfixed me in horror was Noel Streatfield’s Filet de Bœuf aux Bananas, which begins “I have to admit that I am normally a very bad cook.”) but you’ll certainly want to read them. Absolutely ideal Christmas present!

On top of all his other writing achievements, Vladimir Nabokov wrote the greatest ever recipe for a soft-boiled egg. It's one of the recipes by famous writers in this little volume which I wrote the foreword to. I'll be on @BBCFrontRow tonight talking about it w/ @JLQuoVadis

Published as part of @FaberBooks' Editions series―spotlighting rediscovered gems from the Faber archive and beyond―Ursula Parrott's #ExWife is a darkly funny, gloriously bohemian portrait of divorce during the roaring twenties 💔💄

First published anonymously in 1929, Ursula Parrott's EX-WIFE combines dazzling jazz era ambience and the thrill of new found freedom with timeless themes of loneliness and the double standards of patriarchal society: exyu.short.gy/sUOT8H
