I'm so impressed with @imperialcollege Ranked Number 2 in the world, overtaking Oxford and Cambridge. Their top graduates are coming out with useful degrees like Computer Science, Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering. And it's really notable how practical and commercial they are - compared with theory-heavy courses elsewhere. It's a huge win for the UK - we're now home to 3 of the global top 5 Universities.

@GaryMcAllister Jonathan's team are doing the de novo assembly (I believe primarily focused on bacteriology) that in the past would have been done by a reference lab in UKSHA. It's identifying unique susceptibilities with accurate gene identification (we currently just "guess")

@brainwipe @KevinGMayfield It's business analysis verse anthropology (specifically an ethnographic study). The subject matter experts have decades of workflow they intrinsically feel is out of scope (based on the training). And BA is largely guided by SMEs and gets same blind spot.

Two practitioners working in different organisations, will communicate with each other by talking, email, sms, phone, etc.
I don’t get why developers are told they communicate with other by excel spreadsheets either passing them around or sharing via a central ‘sharepoint’.

Should FDP be renamed to National Data Analytics Platform.
Federated bit doesn't matter, do we need to know what architecture it uses, national works.
It's not a Data Platform, it's a Data Analytics Platform and this clearly indicates it's use. It is not a data platform.

@KevinGMayfield I don't feel the books are great in this space -- I prefer academia -- consensus algorithms, lock free structures, superscalar architecture, routing protocols etc. They're very good at describing large scale integration solutions we see at a higher level.

Ones I've found tend to be about single enterprises.

If an open banking API equivalent existed in the NHS (it does appear to exist with high levels of adoption in some care settings).
Should NHS England mandate it, support adoption, extending/updating it, etc?
Main issue, several bodies deny its existence and it is old tech
