filipinos are native english speakers you retarded cracker
accostay@acco_stay

@JulianKJarboe I'm convinced all the outrage is caused by a non-native English speaking population misinterpreting words from a native English speaker that and the vegan part

@elithethirdbtw @pseudomai2113 you must be a pretty crap linguistic student if you can't comprehend the difference between a mother tongue and a learned one. there's no shame in having learned english as a second language, filipino english education is really efficient, but that doesn't make someone native

@hvsperus @pseudomai2113 girl the act of learning implies teaching, whether it be environmental or societal. also grammar and lexicons are like some of the many things you can practice and even imitate to the degree of nativity 😭 pls quit while you're ahead and stop tweeting abt stuff you don't know

@elithethirdbtw @pseudomai2113 native speakers learn their native language from their home and domestic environment. you can't be taught a native language. you never learn its grammar or local phrases or its accent

@hvsperus @pseudomai2113 girl what. you're talking to a linguistics student in the philippines here. its been nativized by the act of it being policied as an official language with a curriculum of how its taught from an early age. also by your logic, how do native speakers learn their language 😭

@hvsperus @pseudomai2113 yo deadass where are you getting this statistic from because i see you repeating it in a lot of tweets concerning this topic. it's plain wrong because most filipinos are native speakers anyway by the merit of it being taught as an FL due to its status as an official language

my god this whole ube ice cream thing shows me how westerners will continue to look down on filipinos and people of the global south because how are some of you saying that this is a linguistic issue when ENGLISH IS TAUGHT AS A FIRST LANGUAGE HERE

@socialepidopta @vamfia if there were actually clear appreciation for ube and filipino workers, he'd have initially highlighted their contribution in his "development" process. plus it's not exactly unprecedented for white entrepreneurs to benefit while filipinos stay underpaid & uncredited

@vamfia Why do you expect the worst from people you've no reason to believe aren't acting in good faith and with the best of intentions? There's a clear appreciation for Ube, any further interest would show it's distinctly Filipino In all cases, it's a springboard for deeper appreciation

most foreigners who are jumping in on this ube craze aren't promoting shit. they are gentrifying it. the ph and filipinos are not benefitting from this. our farmers are still underpaid while our resources are being depleted. masyado niyong dinidefend ang mga kano.

A lot of Filipino and diasporic commentators may not understand this, but: The organic promotion of local products and cuisine by persons overseas is exactly what the Department of Agriculture and Department of Trade and Industry hope for You're actively ruining this for everyone

this joji album is the most incohesive he's been since chloe burbank. not sure if i just don't see the vision with what he's going for but this album was a drag to get through, other than the singles that seem like they're from a totally different project. he's stagnating.
