I just submitted an abstract for a conference in Greek for the first time in my life. It was a challenge. I feel like a small child wrote my text. I had to look up so many words. I’m back where I was (with English) a decade ago. 😅 #AcademicChatter #academia #language

Stories from the return to homeland. Heavy snow for 2 days at the end of January means your pay for December delays by 1.5 month without any notice (expected to be paid in mid Feb). It seems like a real-life example of the butterfly effect. #welcometoGreece #freelance #academia

When u don’t know where inspiration strikes or else we didn’t have a table for lunch today. Struggling with working on a screen sometimes, be it miro, spreadsheets or texts. It seems often what I need is a clean surface. In this case a teal one. #placesoftogetherness #mscaif2020

I miss London's diversity. People from different backgrounds can be found at different positions and professions. It's inspiring. I'm not saying everything is perfect, but the powerful white male paradigm is so much stronger here. #thingsImissfromUK 3/3

I also miss the British politeness. Even though it can lead to major issues of self-suppression, it makes everyday social interactions much easier than Greek rudeness and the feeling of entitlement one can say whatever they think to you without filtering. #thingsImissfromUK 2/3

In transition to thinking, reading & writing again in greek from doing all this in english for the past 10 years. Words and their translations do not have the same meanings, connotations and impact in my head. #languages #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter

On a personal note it seems everyone here is flabbergasted when I say that I returned to Greece, after 10 years aboard, looking anxiously for an answer to the question: Why? Still working on the best way to answer and keep get reminded of the appeal 'West' has on Greek people.5/5

It is also interesting to realize as an embodied experience, the impact the person can have on the whole service. And more importantly how people working on these services are pressured themselves, because of a. the chaos, b. the system's transition, c. someone else slacking. 4/5

Over the 3 last months I've been dealing with bureaucratic services in GR (eg public health insurance, tax services, banks, phone companies, university etc). Most systems seem chaotic mostly because they still have an increased social aspect which in the UK has been automated.1/5
