Today marks 2 years since the launch of $hammy the Sad Hamster memecoin.
Looking back, joining The Hamily in 2024 feels like fate. I recognized the meme from a coworker using it as her pfp. At first I just thought it was hilarious but I quickly realized I had stumbled into a gem of a crypto community of gentle souls with artistic spirits.
That's when I learned about the sad hamster poetry tradition where they would get on twitter spaces and recite sad poetry in hamster voices.
Although it was discontinued before I joined, as someone who had been writing poetry my entire life, I knew I had to bring back the tradition. That quickly evolved into Sad Hamster rap music which is now evolving into a larger ongoing art project.
I never could have predicted raiding KOL tweets with my fellow hamsters could have led me into reigniting my passion for music as a tiny online hamster. But beyond that, the friendships that I have formed within our Hamily are something I will always cherish.
Our hamsters have been through hell and back and have survived the more than just market ups and downs and remained resilient. Even with targeted harassment campaigns and old members stabbing us in the back, our bond could not be broken.
In the meanwhile, our core team of hamsters have continued building in the background. It's too early to announce right now, but we are building a community art project that we will be extending invites to all throughout the memecoin space and beyond. We will keep the artistic spirit of Hammy alive and take it to new heights.
With all that being said I'd like to wish Sad Hamster an amazing 2 year birthday.

Elon plans to launch a digital wallet for 600M X users.
There could be a huge play here, if you’re paying attention.
Elon hasn’t tweeted about $DOGE or posted Doge memes in a long time. The meme essentially died after it was turned into a (now defunct) gov agency.
He’s abandoned doge.
Meanwhile, he’s been posting Pepe and Apu memes regularly over the past 2-3 years.
If X eventually whitelists certain crypto assets for the wallet, it wouldn’t be surprising if the first meme coins supported were $PEPE and $APU
It would cause shockwaves throughout the world.
