@AngelMD1103 As a European, I cannot imagine that I’m going out for a meal with a husband or a friend or family and the main character of the evening is… the server and their tip.
English

It was supposed to be a simple birthday lunch… but it turned into a full-blown tipping standoff
A woman went out to celebrate her birthday at a restaurant with a family member she *already knew. It was a little… cheap. Everything seemed normal until the bill came.
She watched as her relative counted out *exact change*. No tip. Not even a dollar.
Instant red flag
Before she could even process it (and with no cash on her to fix it), they got up to leave… and that’s when things took a turn.
The server came back and said:
“If you don’t want to tip, next time, just order takeout.”
Caught completely off guard, the birthday girl stepped in and offered to tip herself with her card, but the server refused. Said it wasn’t about the money… just wanted to make a point.
Now the internet is split:
Some say the server crossed a line and should NEVER confront customers
Others say… if tipping is how you survive, can you really stay silent?
And some are blaming the system entirely
So now the real question is
If you were in that situation…
Would you have tipped for, them?
Or would you have walked out, too?

@Its_burkes She was not late if she managed to board before the take off. This is her seat so FO

@JanetJarred @Xking332 I didn’t see anything unusual, honey. The best way to check is FlightRadar and the number of flights still coming in. If the damage were significant, the photos would be viral already.

Total chaos in Dubai once again.
This time, a 25 year old female flight attendant from England has been arrested.
She was afraid to fly to Dubai because of the explosions.
But her airline assured her the situation was not too dangerous.
She believed Dubai was downplaying the destruction.
So she took a photo of the heavily damaged airport to show her airline that her safety was at risk.
She warned her colleagues not to visit Dubai on WhatsApp.
Now she has been arrested.
2–5 years in prison.

@thejournal_ie Yes it’s not like people would like to commute over the long weekend. Or maybe it’s the Irish Rail chancing to have a weekend off?

@SchnellHH @babybeginner Japan is 50 years ahead of everyone else. You go there and think, why don’t we have it yet??
English

@babybeginner Fun fact: Do you know that KitKat is available in many funny flavors in Japan? They are not available in Europe. Here is a photo from a supermarket from Kyoto.

English

@SchnellHH @babybeginner This is the matcha-flavored KitKat I’m about to eat. There are many different flavors of KitKat in Japan, but they’re typically shorter than the ones you have.

@SusieM414141 All you need to do is ask the crew if it’s ok to switch. Yes it’s about being able to identify who sat where in case of a crash but also about weight distribution.
English

This woman is on a Southwest Airlines flight that was obviously not full, so she decided to switch seats. Now they are telling her she has to go back to her assigned seat or get off the flight. If a flight is not full, should people be allowed to switch seats? It used to not be a problem, but maybe when there is an unfortunate crash it becomes harder to identify people.
English

@MKovac_Writer Rude. If you are visiting and the host makes you dinner, doesn’t matter what it is, you eat it and you are grateful to them for making it.

NEWS: Aer Lingus will operate its first flight with Starlink Wi-Fi today from Dublin to New York JFK, becoming the first Irish airline to offer Starlink onboard.
“Starlink is a constellation of more than 10,000 satellites that orbit Earth. This means Aer Lingus customers flying on @Starlink-equipped aircraft will be able to seamlessly work, browse, shop and connect from the air on multiple devices on the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky, with download speeds of up to 500+ Mbps."
Aer Lingus will equip all aircraft with Starlink in a phased rollout, beginning with aircraft flying to North America, followed by those serving European destinations. Starlink Wi-Fi is expected to be available across the airline’s entire long-haul fleet by Q1 2027.

@LFJIreland Nothing here to consider, EU parliament just voted in favour of detention centres and speedy deportations. Ireland will have to implement it.
English

The irony that the government are now considering detention centres for deportees. The Irish have been consistently been labelled as "far right" for demanding that the State apply strict immigration policies, including detention centres. Over two years ago 2024 Minister Helen McEntee was asked at an Oireachtas Committee why Ireland did not follow Denmark's model. She responded that "It is a fact that they detain people....I don't think the vast majority of people would like us to go down that route". The Irish people were never asked. The government refused to hold a Referendum on immigration as they knew the vast majority of Irish people were against their policies, but did not speak out for fear of vilification and labelling. The tide has changed and now the government are scrambling. Too little, too late.

@SarahRo52103551 @benonwine You’re not the problem. I’ve visited most of these places, hell I even live in one, but I would gladly never set my foot again.

Maybe I'm the problem!? There's lots of places I've loved!

@ClownWorld I’ve lived in the apartment for many years and been through this crap. For some noises, it doesn’t matter if it’s late evening/quiet time. If you are constantly disruptive, the neighbours has a right to complain on anti-social behaviour.
English

@Nithya_Shrii I’m like that by nature, but I know there is expectation for engaging with others in a small talk. So whenever I’m at the office, I put my chatty/happy clappy mask on and do what’s expected. But when I’m asked at every semi-annual survey if I can be myself at work, I say NO.
English

@newstart_2024 I’ve been living in Ireland for over 20 years and thought of Irish people to be good and decent. Until Covid, when their hysteria went off the charts, when that nasty side of enjoying the moral high ground took hold of them, common sense disappeared.
English

An older but still stinging observation from Jordan Peterson:
“People read the history of Nazi Germany and always think they’re Schindler — the one who would have saved Anne Frank.
They never imagine themselves as the perpetrator.
Look at what happened during the pandemic in Canada: 30% of my neighbors were thrilled to inform on the people around them. They would have worn those masks for the rest of their lives if it let them feel morally superior.”
It’s a stark reminder that the line between “good person” and “collaborator” is thinner than we like to admit — especially when virtue-signaling or social pressure is involved.
Have you ever caught yourself (or seen others) enjoying the moral high ground a little too much during a crisis?
Or do you think most people truly would have stood against the crowd if the stakes were higher?
