@UMich @Dr_ThomasZ The person who recommended that I reach out to Len Fisk was Gerry Soffen (project scientist of Mars Viking), who was one of my mentors during a NASA internship at Goddard in 1997. I'm very grateful to all of the above ✨

In my 1st yr of grad school at @UMich, I went to Dr. Len Fisk's office and just asked if I could do some space science research. I was so clueless, but he was so welcoming and supportive and gave me a project to study the ☀️ (with @Dr_ThomasZ too!)

Excited to meet my mentor and colleague at @UMengineering, Dr. Len Fisk. Len was the head of science at @nasa at the late 80s. Len is retiring from the @UMich this summer.

Someone who could shed light on the hiring practices is @shawndgoldman :)

@sethajacobson @PlanetTreky That link isn't to a job ad, it was used to create a list of highly qualified candidates who will then be notified when the 10-day USAJobs ad is open. Nothing more than that.
These are all Direct Hiring Authority positions and only open for 10 days.

Lazy critics argue about what @shannonmstirone has written simply because she has an art degree. I have one too. The space community could use more people with well-rounded backgrounds. Besides we (former) art majors tend to pay more attention to things that other people miss.
