#IU and #ByeonWooSeok issue emotional apologies amid #PerfectCrown historical distortion controversy; “We are deeply sorry” Following mounting criticism surrounding alleged historical distortion in #PerfectCrown, lead actors IU and Byeon Woo Seok have both released heartfelt public apologies, acknowledging viewers’ concerns and taking responsibility for their involvement in the controversial drama. On May 18, IU shared a lengthy apology statement admitting she failed to approach the project with enough responsibility and awareness regarding the historical issues raised by viewers. “I have carefully read every single comment left by many viewers over the past few days,” she said, adding, “I am deeply sorry and my heart remains heavy because I failed to show a responsible attitude as the lead actor and seem to have caused great disappointment.” The actress further reflected on her shortcomings, stating, “I reflect on and apologize without any excuses for approaching my acting without giving deeper thought to the various historical accuracy issues in the drama that you pointed out.” She continued, “I should have read and studied the script more carefully as an actor, but I am ashamed of myself for failing to do so. I did not properly recognize the issues beforehand. I am sorry.” IU also thanked viewers for their criticism and promised to be more careful in future projects. Earlier, during a special fan event held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall for the drama’s finale screening, the actress reportedly became emotional and tearful while addressing disappointed fans, saying, “I must do even a little bit better for you all. It is truly my fault to disappoint you or show an inadequate side.” Byeon Woo Seok also issued a public apology, revealing he had spent the weekend reflecting on the controversy. “I am posting this with a heavy heart for those who felt discomfort and concern due to the work,” he shared. The actor admitted he lacked sufficient consideration regarding the historical context portrayed in the drama, stating, “Through the comments from viewers, I was able to reflect and introspect, and I have once again deeply realized the need to adopt an attitude of greater responsibility as an actor.” He concluded his statement by apologizing sincerely to viewers who supported the series and promised to approach future projects “with a more cautious and profound attitude.” #HallyuForums #Hallyu

high gambling taxes driving sportsbooks to reduce in-state operations? huge policy win. goodbye and good riddance
Marcus Leshock@marcusleshock

JUST IN: DraftKings is SHUTTING DOWN its sportsbook operation at Wrigley Field after just two years. The company says increased Illinois wagering taxes are to blame for the closure. In a statement published by the @ChicagoTribune, DraftKings said: “DraftKings has made the decision to discontinue onsite sportsbook operations at DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field following a review of our retail presence in Illinois. The venue itself will remain open, but in-person sports betting will no longer be offered at the location. While we are proud of what we have built alongside the Chicago Cubs, we are taking a more focused approach to where we invest in the state. The cost of operating in Illinois, including its high tax structure, makes it more difficult to justify continued investment in a standalone retail sportsbook.” The last day to place a wager at the sportsbook will be May 31.

the framing of "the company never told us about this so they are at fault for not protecting her from abusive body shaming comments" is not just invasive and entitled but also victim blaming. the symptom of the issue is kpop and its fans are extremely fatphobic

hxg is such a fascinatingly stupid company because iirc this was the most viral video from dream academy while it was still happening but theyd rather die than not debut minors and make songs for middle schoolers when people clearly crave something like this
