Kaytlyn Gerbin passed us at La Fouly (112km) in 3rd place. She looks to be running strong despite telling her partner she puked earlier. She seems concerned about not making up time - she's 71 minutes off the lead. #UTMB

@iRunFar There was no puke talk- that must’ve just been the face she was making in the pic.

Thought: what if, for every Ahmaud-style case (I wish I could say it wasn't countless, but it is), in which we find that the initial prosecutors were racist and incompetent, we review & replace them as necessary (very necessary)? SYSTEM CHANGE

Unpopular opinion: If you’re gonna freak out when someone comes within 6’ of you on singletrack, you probably shouldn’t be on singletrack.

@messie_jcclurg Yeah if I look through my phone pics I can find a lot that I was taking because I was looking for something to post. There’s a whole graveyard of photos like this!

Really want to start a public/community discussion around why people share on social media, but poking the hive with a smoking stick isn't a good idea (I've learned that the hard way)

@WoodpeckerMax As a current and future never-has-been-and-probably-won’t-be I (a) think I already follow you? I’ll check. And (b) doesn’t matter much anyway 😂 glad to know you’re doing alright!

@WoodpeckerMax Hah, yes! But joking aside this is the general train of though my initial post is about. Without strava, would those people exist? Without IG/FB/Strava, would people still get out to peaks w. hip blankets? Would people still chase summit/vert/mile/etc. goals? maybe some would.

@WoodpeckerMax Anyhow, going back to outdoors stuff topic- hope you are doing well and finding some sanity these days! I’d say I’ve been following on Strava or IG.. but, I haven’t. And that’s been a nice thing 😀

@WoodpeckerMax That’s not just social media either. Same can be said for traditional media, for movies, for anything.

@WoodpeckerMax IE, I don’t think person A recreating or training for kudos or likes is any lesser or worse than person B who is just trying to find pure old school adventure. Just different preferences and both are good as long as both are done responsibly.

@WoodpeckerMax 🤷‍♂️. I agree re: what should we expect. (See other tweet on people ultimately drive content) but we’re switch tracking a bit. I don’t think there’s a be-all-end-all morality code (other than responsible recreation and not being jerks, etc)

@WoodpeckerMax Neither is Strava (gameifies fitness, and embarrassingly awful community/discussion platform. I could rant on this for days) and neither is FB. There isn’t a good medium that I’ve discovered. IG is actually pretty good IMO
