I recently had the honor of presenting my research on drinking water disinfection and persistent biomolecules at the Montana Biofilm Meeting as a *Young Investigator Awardee*. @BiofilmFirst Thank you @SCELSE_SG and @embb_ntu for the unwavering support!
SCELSE@SCELSE_SG

🎉Congrats to SCELSE research fellow Dr. Sakcham Bairoliya for winning the 2024 Young Investigator Award from Montana State University's @BiofilmFirst! 🌟 His groundbreaking work on biofilm-disinfectant interactions in drinking water systems is enhancing water quality & safety.

@elvisgbxu "rewriting his manuscript, preparing point to point response letter word by word..." - Sad. This sounds too selfish as the PI seems to be exploiting instead of training the student. On the other hand, students waiting to be fed should be screened out during admission interview.

Great having touched base in BioBio24 with my colleague @embb_ntu—it was a long time without coming across 😀. Bin is of the few scientists I know able to combine without a blink frontline Synthetic Biology with major environmental questions, in particular biofilm engineering 💪

@vdlorenzo_CNB @DrewEndy As an engineer, I hate unpredictability and uncontrollability. Complexity and emergent properties are okay as long as they are predictable and controllable 😀

Meet the superworms 🪱: A team of #NTUsg scientists has created an artificial 'worm gut' to break down plastics, offering hope for a nature-inspired method to tackle the global plastic pollution problem. The researchers will now study how the bacteria in the superworm's gut break down the plastics at the molecular level to help scientists engineer more efficient methods in the future. ntu.sg/Artificial-Wor…  #NTUsgResearch #superworms

I’m so glad to see the outputs of this work after 2 years. I’m very proud to be part of this @SeapMicro project! Got to thank @embb_ntu for the mentorship and guidance, and @SakchamB17 and Zin for the help along the way!

#NTUsg scientists have found potential #plasticeating bacteria and potentially harmful microorganisms in the #plastisphere. The findings offer insights that may aid in tackling threats to the #ocean #ecosystem and in arriving at a possible #plasticpollution solution. @SCELSE_SG ntu.sg/PlastisphereSt…

@vdlorenzo_CNB the difference may lie on the required input resources, e.g., energy and water etc.

Making food from atmospheric CO2 is conceptually & technically amazing. The question is whether the whole cycle is inherently (not just comparatively) sustainable in terms CO2-in/CO2-out 🤔 nature.com/articles/s4158…

I’m very happy to share my first research chapter for my PhD’s outcome! In this work, we surveyed coastal habitats in the tropical waters of Singapore. While plastisphere is not polymer specific, it is highly influenced by the sediment. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
