Health systems killing digital health startups by giving them free pilots that never translate to paid EVEN WHEN the results are stellar (cheaper, faster, better for patients) just sucks. The only reason I can see is inertia.

I don't believe education alone is the driver.....there's much more behind it.

Had an idea for a consumer app. Wdyt? Has it been done? A marketplace for people with specialized skills to “trade” services. E.g. a manicurist agrees to take care of an accountant’s nails in exchange for an hour of tax support.

@JohnWilson @chrissyfarr Make services have an assigned value, traders attach bank accounts, you charge a percent of the exchange to each person.

@adamnash @chrissyfarr I think you could have people assign a value to the service they provide, and would transact on your marketplace. Then you report out on a 1099. The barterers would pay taxes based on their set rate. Still better than full price service (and shows revenue growth).

@chrissyfarr ... well, at scale, you have to assume the IRS would come knocking. To them, the service has a cash value, and taxes are owed on that value, even if cash doesn't trade hands. ... but, optimistically, there might be a way to do this starting with a very specific set of trades.

We say healthcare is behind the times (yes, true). But we are also trying to integrate 100,000 unique data points with extreme regulation. Then I look at the financial industry - a handful of unique transaction types and it still costs $30 to get a real time transaction done.

@Lygeia @techguy My favorite is how many LinkedIn messages I get talking about optimizing my clinic operations....in no way do I work in a provider setting. They use outsourced lead gen or bots and filter searches on "Hospital & Healthcare" industry.

@techguy Fake or real I don't know, but I'm tired of getting these (currently for #ATA2023) -- in addition to what feels like an uptick in LinkedIn direct messages selling stuff I would never even buy. They devalue the whole network and increase the risk that valuable stuff gets lost.

Are you doing your part to mark those fake #HIMSS23 attendee list fakes as spam? I'm up to 210 solicitations that I've marked as spam in the last 30 days. Crazy. #HITMC
