@signaturedoc Of course, in an ideal world admission would occur within a couple hours ED presentation, but with large volumes comes delays in admission and providing blanket protection prevents patient care from slipping thru cracks until that handoff can occur.

@emergencyrph @painfreeED @SMieleRX @MaimoPharmRes ED boarders should be under the care of the admitting doctor and have admission orders written by the attending that would include antibiotics. Was docs should not need to do this.

‼️Hot off the press‼️ Got ED boarders? @SMieleRX discovered providing scheduled anti microbial coverage until admission was associated with lower lengths of stay, greater vent free days, and lower mortality Consider scheduling 2 doses vs 1 time doses pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37941339/
