A decade ago, HR at our company was handed to me. I didn’t want it, but everyone else was tired of them as well. Did several things right off the bat, one of which was to take any concealed weapons rules out of the handbook. Met with horror by some. I just said that the entire C suite is carrying right now, we don’t write rules we aren’t going to enforce. Also fired a couple, rewrote recruiting rules, etc. but none of that is relevant. Started talking about these stupid gun rules when at various meetings (not from a podium, just casually) and learned many others in town had done the same or were thinking about it.

Can we be real here? How many money managers in Dallas have a Glock in their desk drawer?

@texasrunnerDFW You are just wrong on this. Maybe your Texas bias? In Denver we have lots of well done townhomes in the city full of kids and pets. They have backyards and are in walkable neighborhoods, which is a huge benefit w/ kids. The best cities in the world are full of townhomes!

@texasrunnerDFW This is a terrible take. Townhomes when done right are an amazing option for families and non families, especially in walkable neighborhoods. Many have no HOA dues. You can’t hear your neighbors and most have their own backyard. Living in a house with stairs is good for you!

@TeamHerrold It’s actually incredibly important for men to say they are taking parental leave in terms of gender equity/supporting your female colleagues. Younger men need to see their bosses taking time off to care for newborns so it does not automatically fall on the mother!!

This isn't going to go over well... For the dudes out there, if you experience the birth of your son/daughter, don't give a OOO notice saying you're on "Parental Leave." Just be gone.

Flood Watch for NE Colorado includes entire Denver area. Near-nonstop rain through tomorrow. I think it's a borderline flood event...if we get 3-4" of additional rain, that's going to lead to issues. 1-2" of extra rain, generally minor. Drought buster either way. #9wx #COwx
