Boom is supersonic. On Jan. 28, 2025 at 8:31am PST / 16:31 GMT, XB-1 broke the sound barrier. Chief Test Pilot Tristan “Geppetto” Brandenburg safely and successfully achieved supersonic speed in XB-1, the first civil supersonic jet made in America. ✅New top speed: Mach 1.122 (652 KTAS) ✅New max altitude: 35,290 ft. ✅Flight time: 34 minutes ✅Airspace: Bell X-1 Supersonic Corridor and the Black Mountain Supersonic Corridor in Mojave, CA XB-1 demonstrates that Boom has the team, technology, and tools to deliver supersonic commercial travel with Overture, cutting travel times in half. Congratulations to the Boom team on making aviation history!

Today I’ve been doing science “stuff”in the lab at summer school. It was bloody brilliant. However it has confirmed that biology is basically messy… tomorrow we do chemistry and physics! @OU_STEM @OpenUniversity

@PilotTris The quadriceps are important for protecting/supporting the knee joint… I’ve not been going to the gym for a while and noticed my knee playing up more since not doing resistance exercises targeting them.

@endaburke81 Absolutely Enda. I guess it’s expected with a large following. Quite simply if you don’t like it, don’t watch. If it can bring aviation to a larger number of people I say job well done in that respect. Shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

@airbus_al @easyJet Totally concur. Had an ATPL offer from an integrated school but no way to cover the finance. That’s the only barrier I have to become an airline pilot, my gender has never been an issue to me. Although I’m a big advocate for modular training now regardless

Great to see @easyJet recruiting pilots BUT sadly their scheme yet again requires significant cash from the individual. So many prospective pilots of all genders, race etc are barred from their dreams because they or their parents don’t have £100k+.

Last wk 11-yr-olds Caitlin, Milly and Alice had pre-arranged QSO with Robert, a French radio amateur in Dunkirk. John, G7OHO helped set up handheld 5W radio & Yagi-Uda antenna from Ramsgate promenade. Girls pronounced call sign as French would; Robert gave a 5 & 9 report #hamr
