Peter Navarro says he isn’t interested in negotiations despite overtures by export-based economies (e.g. Vietnam, Cambodia, China and India) and that the US is all in on hurting their economies until they buy as many products as they sell, even if they reduce their tariffs to 0%.
“They’re coming now and saying we want to talk, we’ll lower our tariffs to zero. That’s not the problem. Vietnam is a great example, Laura. They sell us $15 for every one we sell them. Zero tariffs would get us no reduction in the $123 billion deficit we have.”
