You guys! With absolute benign neglect, this Miltonianopsis orchid is set to bloom again with two flower spikes! The most gorgeous and also fragrant orchid in my collection!

@MariaPeiro305 I agree! He’s a phony Rino Democrat. I think Collins is a better alternative.

Republicans will regret it if Byron Donalds wins the Republican primary. If he does, there's no going back. We will be headed towards RINOs taking over Florida again like in the past with Rick Scott. We must defeat Byron Donalds in this primary. He cannot be the nominee.

@newstart_2024 Mine own sobriety has amazed me. 41 years of continuous sobriety one day at a time. Not sure what “modified” sobriety is though.

Tucker Carlson and Theo Von had one of the most honest, raw conversations about addiction and sobriety I’ve heard in a long time. Theo shared that he was 18 months sober from cocaine at the time of the interview (October 2023), mainly because fentanyl had made the drug too dangerous. Tucker opened up about his own 21-year journey with a “modified” version of sobriety. Both spoke with zero judgment and plenty of dark humor about how brutal those early weeks are and how hard it is to sit with your own thoughts without a crutch. Theo is still sober today — and that kind of long-term commitment is seriously impressive. In a world where drugs keep getting more lethal, hearing high-profile people talk openly about getting clean removes shame and shows it’s possible. I have a lot of respect for both of them. Theo and Tucker are genuinely inspiring — they faced their demons head-on and did the hard work to build better lives. It takes real strength to admit when something controls you and then change it. Who’s someone whose sobriety or recovery journey has inspired you?

@Georgesantos @RCamposDuffy It’s a nice formal gown but her continuous placement of her hand on her hip is not classy and takes away from the dress and the occasion

Extremely gratified to see this decision we’ve been waiting for! I was proud to co-author the brief for the United States as amicus in this important case, perhaps one of the most important developments in decades in Voting Rights Act jurisprudence!
SCOTUS Wire@scotus_wire

🚨 In a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court strikes down Louisiana's new congressional map that added a second majority-black district, holding that it constitutes a racial gerrymander. The Court narrows its previous interpretation of the Voting Rights Act.

I got married 3 months to the day after meeting my husband(just had our 29th anniversary). I was 11 weeks pregnant when I got married. My Mom had to plan a wedding in 6 weeks. I was the complete opposite of a Bridezilla and let her do whatever she wanted and she definitely did it on a budget and it was a small intimate wedding. The only thing I did care about was the dress because one of my vice’s is fashion. But here is the thing, was I really going to have my parents spend thousands of dollars on a dress I would wear for a few hours? NO. So I was working at a high end boutique at the time and one of my customers was a couture wedding dress designer. When I told her my story she took pity on me and rented one of her gowns to me, she had never done that before. I was so grateful 🤍Bottom line the cost of a dress or where you got it shouldn’t matter but instead how it makes you feel. So to all of the haters picking on women for getting a discount dress, why do you care? Is your life really that shallow? Are you consumed by jealousy? For the love of God, just stop the attacks. It really just shows your hateful, dark heart.

@Here_s_Hoping I have the same exact situation. I finally divided them up among my nieces and nephews as a memento to have from their great grandmother. I did the same with embroidered dish towels.

Dilemma. What do I do with these embroidered pillowcases ? They were given to my mom at her wedding. They were embroidered by her grandma, my great great grandma. My mom never used them because /she “couldn’t ever replace them” after her grandma passed. She kept them in the linen closet in the house I grew up in. She gave them to me when I got married and yes, I’ve also kept them unused in my linen closet for 20 years. I don’t want to get rid of them (I won’t). Do I use them or keep them safely store me for future generations to not use, either?

I have posted elsewhere that last night's events will have a sobering effect on many media members in attendance. About 80% of respondents to those posts say I am nuts. But most people don't realize that the great majority of journalists see themselves as being good and decent people, and heroes in their own story. Do not underestimate the impact a sobering real world event can have in snapping such people out of their own illusions of virtuousness. I call it "The Bridge on the River Kwai Effect."

A model who worked at the same prestigious Milan agency as Melania Trump (Riccardo Gay) during the exact same years has literally no memory of her. In an interview she said: “I never noticed her. Honestly, I don’t remember ever meeting her. I have no idea if she actually worked that much… She was with the agency for about a year and a half. And then? What did she do? Where did she go?” Melania arrived in Milan in the early ’90s after a small, almost forgotten beauty contest in Cinecittà. Yet one of her contemporaries at a top-tier agency, who was there at the same time, says she has no recollection of her. It’s one of the strangest details about her early career. Melania seems to have left almost zero trace among the very people who should have remembered her.

No British government ever imagined an American president might finally tell the truth about the “special relationship.” Until now. Spare me the pearl-clutching obituary from The Economist, that decaying salon of transatlantic nostalgia where the ghost of Churchill is still being pimped out like a rent-boy for Davos subscriptions. Your precious bunting of flags in the bin isn’t some tragic metaphor for Trump’s “betrayal.” It’s the autopsy photo of a one-way parasitic bargain that America has carried on its back like a drunk uncle for eighty goddamn years. And the drunk finally woke up, looked around, and said: Fuck this. This isn’t “turning his back.” This is a sovereign nation refusing to keep subsidizing a continent of strategic eunuchs who have spent decades castrating their own militaries, hollowing out their industrial bases, and importing the very pathologies that make them security liabilities rather than allies. You want the special relationship? Earn it. Reciprocate it. Stop treating the United States like an ATM with nuclear weapons. Geopolitically and militarily, the numbers don’t lie and they never have. The United States still shoulders roughly sixty percent of total NATO defense spending...$845 billion out of a collective $1.4 trillion last year. Most of your European “partners” couldn’t hit the 2% GDP target even after Russia parked tanks on Ukraine’s border and started lobbing missiles at civilian infrastructure. Britain under Starmer talks a big game about “global Britain” while quietly slashing capability, courting CCP-linked cash, and letting its own streets burn under the weight of demographic transformation and speech codes that make the old East German Stasi look libertarian. You lecture us about values while your own government criminalizes tweets and turns Rotherham into a cautionary tale the media still refuses to fully autopsy. Historically, the ledger is even more damning. We bled for you in 1917 and 1941 when your empires were on the ropes. We bankrolled your reconstruction, anchored your defense for the entire Cold War, and let you punch above your weight on the world stage because sentimental Anglosphere nostalgia still meant something. In return? Suez 1956, where you expected us to back imperial nostalgia while we were trying to contain Soviet expansion. Vietnam, where you sat it out. Iraq, where you half-assed it and then spent the next twenty years sneering at us in your broadsheets. And every single time an American president dared put America First, your commentariat wailed like Victorian widows about the death of the alliance...as if the alliance was ever meant to be a suicide pact. You’ve internalized a victimhood narrative so profound it borders on the clinical...projecting your own national decline, your own loss of agency, your own self-inflicted castration onto the one country that still possesses the will to act like a great power. Trump doesn’t “deprioritize” the relationship; he simply refuses to indulge the delusion any longer. He sees what you refuse to admit: the United Kingdom of 2026 is no longer the reliable offshore balancer of 1945. It’s a mid-tier European power wrestling with internal entropy, elite disconnect, and a demographic trajectory that makes long-term strategic partnership… let’s just say, complicated. We are sick of it. Sick of the free ride. Sick of the lectures from people whose capitals are turning into no-go zones while their defense ministers beg Washington for more F-35s and more carrier groups to patrol waters they can no longer secure themselves. Sick of the pomp, the pageantry, the royal visits, and the hand-wringing editorials that treat American self-interest as some kind of moral failing. The special relationship isn’t dead. It’s being stress-tested by reality. And reality, Mr. Economist, is a vicious bitch with a ledger in one hand and a mirror in the other. Look into it. 💀⚖️🗡️
