Tom Hartley's Final Series of Belfast City Cemetery Tours
After more than a quarter of a century leading unforgettable tours of Belfast City Cemetery, this year marks the final time Tom Hartley will guide Féile audiences through the graves and stories that have shaped our city.
One of the original architects behind Féile’s resounding growth and success, Tom is a celebrated local historian, author, and former Lord Mayor of Belfast. His political and community leadership has always gone hand in hand with his deep-rooted commitment to the arts, local history, storytelling and showcasing the best of, and often the unknown, tales of Belfast.
For over 25 years, Tom has researched and written the story of Belfast through its burial grounds, bringing the stories of our city’s past to life.
Tom’s unmatched historical insight, political awareness and storytelling has not only educated thousands but has ensured that new generations understand the city’s rich, complex, and often overlooked heritage.
Through his work, the lives of hundreds of ordinary and extraordinary Belfast citizens, from poets to paupers, to rebels and reformers, buried in our cemeteries have been remembered, revalued, and passed on to new generations.
All Tour dates:
Sat 2nd, Sun 3rd, Wed 6th, Thu 7th, Fri 8th & Sat 9th August

This scheme has sat and sat so good to see some movement. HOWEVER press release says lower down that construction won’t begin until 2030/31 so nothing new for travellers. It’s really just an admission that it’s sat for so long that the planning docs now need updated.
