Celebrating the retiring legends of Earth Sciences
Today, the Department of Earth Sciences came together for a vibrant and heartfelt luncheon to celebrate and bid farewell to some of our brightest stars heading into retirement. The honorees—Drs. Emma Mbua, Alfreda Ibui, Ms. Sarah Kimani, Ms. Mary Nafula, Mr. John Mwangi, Mr. Henry Mwangi, Mr. John Mborogi, and Mr. Tom Mhukuyu—were showered with glowing tributes from colleagues, interns, volunteers, and research collaborators.
For those unable to attend, touching messages and cherished memories poured in, reminding us all of the incredible legacy these retirees leave behind. Dr. Kiura led the department in cutting a magnificent cake, crowning an occasion filled with laughter, joy, and even a few tears.
As we celebrated their dedication and impact, one thing was clear: the Department of Earth Sciences won’t be the same without these legends. We join hands to wish them a retirement full of adventure, relaxation, and all the happiness in the world.
Cheers to the Earth Sciences Stars—retirement suits you already.
