It was a privilege to participate in Saudi Live Endoscopy at King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh (Jan 29–31). Three days of high-level live cases showcasing the full spectrum of advanced therapeutic endoscopy, third-space procedures, complex biliary interventions, hepatogastrostomies, and EDGE. The technical precision and confidence demonstrated by colleagues from across the MENA region ; Iraq, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan, were truly impressive. This was my second visit to Riyadh in three months, following time at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre. After seeing both tertiary centers, it is clear that Saudi healthcare is rapidly advancing toward world-class, cutting-edge delivery. The availability of the same advanced platforms and devices we use in leading U.S. centers speaks volumes about the pace of progress. Congratulations to @AllehibiAbed and the organizing team for an exceptional meeting. The future of advanced endoscopy in the region is very bright.

Congratulations to TxIEG @TexasIEG on the success of the 10th Annual Nurses and Technicians Endoscopy Course, held on Valentine’s Day at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. With more than 100 attendees and a sold-out registration, the event reflects the continued growth and impact of TxIEG’s educational mission. The course offered a highly practical, hands-on experience for nurses and technicians, featuring stations on clipping, hemostasis, EMR, and ESD. Participants gained direct exposure to advanced devices and techniques that support safe and effective interventional endoscopy.Faculty from across Houston including Methodist hospitals, UT, HCA, and Baylor College of Medicine came together in a strong display of regional collaboration. Special thanks to Dr. Kalpesh Patel for organizing the program, and to Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center for hosting. @TexasIEG remains deeply committed to advancing multidisciplinary endoscopy education across all levels of training!

Honored to be invited by the Gastroenterology Division at the University of Arizona in Tucson as the Grand Rounds speaker. @EndoscopyOthman Main problem is that the ballon you show is a Spatz 3 which is very rigid and hard to handle due to the additional filling tube

🎥 Endoscopic intragastric balloon removal – key technical pearls ◆ This case shows removal of an intragastric balloon placed outside the U.S., at a time when the device and its connection system were not yet available locally. ◆ Complete deflation is critical. A specialized suction device was used, allowing rapid evacuation of ~500 cc and controlled balloon collapse. @WasAbiDoc recommendation! ◆ After full deflation, the balloon was grasped with a Raptor forceps and removed using a slow, controlled pull, minimizing risk to the stomach and esophagus. ◆ When dedicated devices are unavailable, alternative techniques (e.g., 19-gauge needle aspiration) can be used—but rapid suction systems offer clear efficiency and safety advantages. 📌 Take-home: Safe intragastric balloon removal depends on complete deflation, controlled extraction, and familiarity with multiple tools.
