This would make me sad and I don’t believe in keeping compartmentalized secrets like this, but I do believe modern cohabitation starves a relationship of mystique and inspiration. Living things need room to breathe. Lovers must intentionally create their own sanctuaries and private routines, maybe even take the occasional solo pilgrimage or quest, not to create distance but to return with something. To gather more tinsel and baubles for the magpie nest, more fuel for the fire.

my hot take is the reason an explicit sf dating app will not work is because the humans are the products in a city that already feels extremely transactional, esp to fem energy
there would be much more success in positioning it as matches for a lifestyle companion - think cycling, cooking, writing clubs - where the productization is on the experience, not the person. focus on chill affinity and kinship, remove every other pressure, that is how sustainable romance blooms

apparently one of the highest revenue yc companies is a match making app doing like a ~$1m a month in revenue & it’s not a dating app. it uses ai to match women for friendship with other women due to loneliness which is very fascinating because bumble needed to lean into this hardcore but obviously failed in all facets of business for the past like ~6 years. kinda ironic since the zeitgeist narrative from the mainstream is always about men’s loneliness.
