I've been told this particular tweet has appeared in a @terryflewers video recently. Whilst i have no issues with this, I'd like to set a couple of things straight particularly as Terry has chosen to use this as a bashing tool. Firstly the amount is a bit higher, i added the numbers in euros and not pounds. The real amount is slightly lower at around £450 million. In his video Terry goes on to highlight the investment is unjustified as he says "the core of the team that won 4 in a row is still there". Let's debunk this bullshit and call it out for real. In the previous summer, immediately after winning the historic 4th consecutive PL City's inbound was a £30 million Savinho and a free Gundogan.( Relegated Southampton spent more. ) Hardly lavish? We also lost Alvarez, who was a major player in the previous PL win. At the start of the 2024-2025 season City had one of the oldest average squad age in the league. During that season they lost Rodri with an ACL, KDB with multiple injuries, and an upcoming Bobb with a leg fracture. The following players also missed 9 or more games throughout the season: Ederson, Ake, Alkanji, Dias, Stones, Grealish, Doku, Haaland, Bobb. The squad situation was so bad, City started UCL games with Simpson Pussey as a starting CB. Following that the January transfer window saw the club being forced to bring defenders in as we didn't have any, a DM to cover for Rodri ( Nico G )and Marmoush. All necessary at the time. The summer saw us have a roughly £150 million investment with Donnarumma, Reijnders, Cherki and Ait Nouri being brought in. Terry also fails to mention this was done for a less amount than United, Arsenal and Liverpool have spent during that exact time. Terry also doesn't mention the club has seen the following players leave: -Ederson, Akanji, Grealish, Gundogan, Walker in January, Kevin de Bruyne to name the main ones. It is again being brought to light the sheer hypocrisy of hateful content creators that use "money" that everyone spends to beat down City's actions or simply to justify petulant hate. City apparently are the only club in world football that are not allowed to rebuild, recycle their players and re-establish a good and functional squad. As a beautiful final touch @terryflewers why don't you mention that in net expenditure during the last decade City currently are: -£650 million behind United. -£314 million behind Arsenal. -£270 million behind Chelsea. -£190 million behind Spurs. We have won more and better than all the clubs mentioned above combined. We also have more academy graduates involved in the team than all of the above mentioned teams. Simply put mate, we're just better. At business and football.
