Sharing my notes which I made during learning Elixir for myself, cause think that can be helpful for someone else too. I rarely have time to work with this language and I needed something to quickly refresh my memory whenever I decide to dive back into it. So, here it is: goga.codes/e

I am glad Hacker News keeps its character and it is still possible to talk about some technical craft with like-minded people. can't say the same about Reddit. here is a post of mine about an interesting, elixir + SQLite-backed task queue: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=484762…

@wakeupyourmind3 In the view of someone who finds Islam entertaining, has some weird account with 20 followers, and tries to construct logic that is around 8-to-10 IQ - it is fine to be a casual.

@wakeupyourmind3 sorry, I don't really get what you're trying to achieve here. Are you trying to convince me that Islam is occasionally entertaining? okay, so when someone doesn't enjoy a 25-minute hugging match, they're a 'casual.' Thanks for sharing your professional insights.

@entGriff Did you know not every fight ends in a finish? But 8 out his last 10 did? You do know the point is to win the fight FIRST and entertain you second? You forget Islam knocked out an elite striker in Volk. Submitted an elite grappler in Oliveira? I swear you are such casuals

@wakeupyourmind3 I just can't imagine how boring someone's life must be to watch - I don't know, let's say Islam vs. Jack Della and actually claim that Islam is entertaining, and then start bringing up stats. I just don't understand it

@entGriff I don’t see how Islam is boring, uninspiring, etc. 8 out of his last 10 have been finishes. He gets into no trouble, shows the upmost respect to his opponents, and is a complete fighter.

@entGriff I’d say the fighter that changed his face , is inspiring , entertaining and smart. Wouldn’t you ?

@wakeupyourmind3 Not really, it's not about Gaethje. I actually find him to be a quite dirty fighter, but definitely not stupid, boring, or uninspiring. I’m talking more about food vloggers like arman or 'intellectuals' like islam, who just cackle like the hyenas from the Lion King

@FeetGoblin I got you, but I am not doing it for fun, just supporting the right ones, whether they are winning or losing

@entGriff Hating on fighters that are winning and supporting fighters that are losing is infinitely more fun than vice versa.

@tornikegomareli yep, the music really suits, plus seeing guys like Arman so happy, makes Ilia look even more impressive in my eyes, cause who are your haters, really speaks a lot about yourself.

@entGriff Thats good take. I just thought and I think it really feels better when I think what a great warrior he is, and I remember this soundtrack.

Well, we can argue about which agent wins at what task. But if you’re actually writing, maintaining, or fixing a project - how talking to an agent in a terminal beats having it fully integrated in the IDE. things change, but we keep pretending that doing everything in a terminal makes us smarter.

we all saw the chart how less and less people use stackoverflow. was funny, right? recently Meta apps added ability to react/unreact on message in messenger via their graph api. It clearly does not works as it should. returns meaningless, weird error. There is open, yet unanswered question on meta devs community about it. week ago I asked the same question on stackoverflow. No answer. what we do now?

the task requirements with very few words, merge requests with extremely short descriptions or readmes with just few code examples were way better than these stupid emoji-filled paragraphs. at least they had a sense.

I wonder if anything changed during the last few months in the x algorithm or if it still shows only posts by "celebrities" or some shitty posts that make you feel overwhelmed but give nothing.

most devs I meet don't know how to vibe code in Cursor I find it crazy they'd rather waste hours instead of invest 20 minutes into their workflow. here's my stupid simple system:
