How do you know that you’re a gamedev at heart? You sit next to a river and all you can think of is: wow that shader is really awesome!

@notch Depends on what you want your engine to be capable of. But if you focus on gameplay and not on photorealistic graphics (which you anyways should do as indie) then I agree. And even if you don’t want to write your own engine: there are a lot of good free ones out there.

I made my own engine for Minecraft. Implementing the rest of the game is a much bigger time investment than making the engine. There is no middleware for innovation.

@raumvektor Bisher hat mir wirklich jedes Buch gut gefallen. Speziell die hard Science-Fiction die die Fantasie dazu anregt nachzudenken, was alles möglich sein könnte eines Tages. Aber auch was für neue moralische Fragen dadurch aufgeworfen werden. Kudos! Freue mich schon auf nächste Buch!

2013 während eines Kreta-Urlaubs hatte ich die Idee für meinen 1. Roman "Transport". Während der nächsten Monate feilte ich an diesem Hobby-Projekt. Dass ich 10 Jahre später nun Vollzeit als Autor arbeite, hätte ich nie mit gerechnet. Macht eure Träume wahr! ALLES ist möglich!
