The situation is tougher on Valve because they cannot benefit from economies of scale that lower build costs, it's also harder for them to subsidize hardware because they're not meaningfully generating higher lifetime value from the sale of Steam Decks (e.g. via subscription)

It used to be really good back in the day(easy to see AAA getting reduced to 5 to 10 dollars) like 10 years ago.
