@bencsin Summer in Japan or Korea feels far worse than in Bangkok.

People from Europe and North America always say the humid weather in southern Asia is unbearable, and while I agree the ultra humid summers in HK, Singapore, Bangkok can be rough, I think I prefer it over super dry weather like in Vegas or northern china.

@TBreitschneider Wenn ich aus Japan kommend, in FRA aus dem Flieger steige, dauert es maximal bis zum Regionalbahnhof am Flughafen, bis ich denke "Was ein Shithole!".

Der Sohn einer Bekannten war mehrere Wochen in Japan. Er reiste quer durch das Land und berichtete, wie sauber dort die Straßen und Plätze sind und wie freundlich die Menschen. Man sieht keine tätowierten oder gepiercten Menschen. Auf den Straßen keine eingeklebten Kaugummiflecken, kein Müll, keine Graffitis, keine überquellenden Mülleimer, gepflegte Parkanlagen, keine Kopftücher oder marodierende Männerhorden, keine Saufgelage auf den Straßen, keine Grillfeste in den Parkanlagen. Das Bahnfahren dort ist ein absolutes Erlebnis. Nicht nur, dass die Bahn stets pünktlich ist sondern auch was die Sicherheit betrifft. Menschen stellen sich gesittet in einer Reihe an und lassen erstmal aussteigende Fahrgäste in Ruhe passieren. Er und seine Freundin waren so dermaßen begeistert und angetan, dass sie dieses Jahr wieder für mehrere Wochen nach Japan reisen werden. Angesichts dessen, was er erzählt hat, frage ich mich wirklich, in was für einem Land wir hier eigentlich leben?

@X_rebel2 @TBreitschneider Deutsche sind auch höflich. Wenn ich zum Bäcker gehe: "Guten Morgen", "Danke", "Bitte sehr", "Schönen Tag noch". Bei Rewe dasselbe. In Japan wirst du nur sehr selten höfliche, fremde Menschen treffen, meistens sind sie verschlossen und eher ablehnend.

Stimmt nicht unbedingt. Bei der Miete es kommt drauf an wo du wohnst. Angenommen in Tokyo: Minato, Chuo, Shibuya, etc. sind teuer, aber außerhalb wie bspw. in Kawasaki, Machida, etc. siehts komplett anders aus, fast günstiger als in Deutschland. Essen und Restaurantbesuche sind auch günstiger als in Deutschland. Du kriegst in Japan nen Lunch Set für 1200 Yen. Getränk, Vorspeise, Hauptspeise und Nachtisch für knapp 7 Euro, das findest du in Deutschland nirgends.

@TBreitschneider Das ist halt die touristische Sicht, dort leben kann man meines Erachtens *nur* wenn man Geld hat und sehr sehr reich ist. Da zu arbeiten und zu leben ist eine ganz bittere Geschichte, als Einheimischer schon aber als Ausländer der dann mit Jobverlust erpresst wird sehr unschön

Ich hab in Tokio gewohnt und bestätige fast alles. Aber: Bahnfahren ist gefährlich, und zwar für Frauen. Es gibt nicht grundlos extra Waggons nur für Frauen. Außerdem gibts in Japan ein riesiges Problem mit irgendwelchen perversen Typen, welche Kameras verstecken um Frauen, und häufig auch Kinder, unter dem Rock zu filmen. Ich wusste nicht wie krass das Problem ist, bis ich es selber oft beobachtet hab. Die Typen gehen sogar so weit, dass sie Mini-Kameras auf ihre Schuhe, Schnürsenkel, etc. montieren oder Löcher in kleine Tüten machen und dort eine Kamera platzieren. Und das passiert nicht 1-2 mal...es passiert jeden einzelnen Tag. Eine deutsche Bekannte von mir wurde von einem Nachbarn gestalked. Der Typ hat sogar probiert bei ihr in die Wohnung einzubrechen. Und dann gibts noch ein ganz anderes Problem: Viele japanische Jugendliche haben anscheinbar komplett falsche Vorbilder. Benehmen sich wie in Deutschland die Talahons. Kleiden sich alle gleich, Vandalismus, etc.

@CalebFranzen Indeed a great place. I stayed there for quite some time as well. I think the experience really depends on the area you stay. I used to live in Gwangwhamun, very near to the Palace. Super quiet and peaceful.

I'm going to miss Seoul. It's an incredible place. Amazing food, interesting history, great culture. High emphasis on aesthetics, so everything is clean, orderly, beautiful, and functional. 10M people in the city, but no chaos. I'll be back again... eventually.
